    This is great timing as our Amazon Basics shredder just crapped out (and we babied it). I think shredders are like dehumidifiers - they are only made to last up to about 2 years. Either go cheap or buy from a store with a good return policy like Costco. I was going to drop about $250 on one from Costco and then this showed up. Ended up getting 4 of them (the limit) so I figure that's about 8 years of shredding if I'm lucky.

    I had one for years and it was very weak. Can barely do 4 pages without struggling. Eventually malfunctioned.

    Regular lube extends the life significantly. I bought mine from staples 10yrs ago for 12.99 in a deal and still working great! If i know i am going to shred a good amount of stack in one go, i lube before starting, just allows proper lube spread during subsequent shredding! With that said i am in for one, thanks OP

    My auto feed broke almost immediately and it's not much of a cross cut but for home use it has been great for nearly 10yrs.
