This and 5800X should be $150. They are only viable for AM4 owners as upgrades or else AM5 all the way.

Not a bad price at all. I bought one of these on Amazon for like 189 yesterday.

5700G that has built-in graphics is $177 at Amazon [amazon.com]. People with Amazon prime card get 5% cash back so it ends up cheaper.

This is exactly why it's more expensive. Just like the 9900k is still over $200. People have limited options

sorry to be so off topic but.. amazon encroaching on ebay's territory and selling directly through them? Jeff Bezos's ambition knows no limits apparently Smilie

On a more serious note.. I'm pretty sure you need a CPU cooler for this as it doesn't come bundled with the wraith cooler like other amd ryzen CPU's of a "lower level" (like the 5 or 3 series for example) do... I did a lot of research on the 'net on this and got varying opinions, some saying if you buy a amd wraith cooler independently it's fine and a cheap solution, others said no you need a more powerful CPU cooler

Being the more paranoid sort myself Smilie I went with the "Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE CPU Air Cooler" here's the amazon link to it and have been very pleased with how well it cools my CPU but a heads up - it's a big CPU cooler so check the size of your case vs the cooler measurements if you decide to get it to make sure it fits in there

https://www.amazon.com/AMD-5700X-...HQHZ6?th=1

tom's hardware was pretty pleased with it in their review

https://www.tomshardware.com/revi...sin-120-se

It's not as complicated to install as people say it is (if I can do it anyone can do it Smilie ) but you'd definitely have to remove the motherboard from your PC (you were probably going to do that anyways if upgrading your CPU , obviously if it's for a new PC build not a problem) ... there's a few great youtube tutorials online if you look for "thermaltight peerless assassin installation " that go into lots of detail on how to install it

Grab some arctic thermal paste too when you order it , the MX4 version is very cheap and has been working out great for me personally

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...UTF8&psc=1

according to the experts on tom's hardware forums (yep tom's hardware is my go-to Smilie ) surprisingly enough paper coffee filters work best to remove thermal paste along with 90 percent rubbing alcohol, both of which are fairly cheap at say your local walmart.

Pffft it's laughable this is 10$ less than the 5800x. Why get this over the 5800x?

5700G is pci express gen 3 only so if that's not a problem for you then sure. The iGPU comes in handy when you get a GPU later

Well it would still be a good viable new pc path because ddr5 is still too expensive and ddr4 is crazy cheap. So for a more budget build AM4 is far from dead

The 5800x was 180 yesterday. This is 5-10% less powerful. The 10$ more is nothing compared to the performance uplift

If the 5700x was 150-160 it would be a bit more compelling but it can't be too close in price to the 5800x

You'd be a fool to build a new AM4 rig now. LGA1700 has dirt cheap motherboards, DDR5 prices have come way down, and Intel's lower cost CPUs caused AMD to drop prices, both brands have cheap new CPUs.

They are dirt cheap for a reason lacking sometimes important features. To get the most out of LGA1700 you need ddr5,

I guess if you're on a tight budget. Depending on the RAM configuration on the AM4, price delta between the two can vary. The 7500F can be picked up for $160 all day long though. lol. Recent HWUB shows this little 6 core is a beast vs the 13400. And the 13400 is paired with fast 7200 DDR5.

I think you miss heard me. It would be a good option if the price was right. If you read my comment I said this price makes no sense. Please read the comment before making a judgement call lol
