Don't plumbers recommend not using these types of things because it damages the flapper and other components a lot quicker?

I bought some tablets with bleach to put in my dual flush toilets. They clean well, but after a couple of weeks, condensation in the tank of the bleach water has caused the chrome plastic push buttons on the toilet to turn blue/green. The bleach has effectively eaten away the chrome plating. So much so that pushing that button causes the blue reside to come off on your finger, which is gross.

Needless to say, I now have to buy replacement push buttons (less than $20 for two sets), but it's just a hassle.
