If you have Xfinity as your ISP you might want to take a look at this page:

Seller is "MTRLC LLC". That's literally the manufacturer:

It is. I have this model with Spectrum 1Gig internet plan and works with no issues

Moto sold it for $105 a few days ago. Lot of complaints there (little mentions of the problem in Amazon reviews) about Comcast. Well, going to try it out (or cancel it before shipment. Will take a long time to ship).

I'm actually one of those guys on the forum complaining about intermittent disconnects of the 8611. Lately though, it seems Xfinity has decided not to push their firmware and letting the 8611 OEM firmware to stay, in my opinion. Hence, the intermittent disconnects seldom happens. But if I have to go back in time, I would just get another Arris which so far are rock steady in connections.

Went through three of these things before I finally got one that worked properly. The modem would reboot 3 or 4 times a day at least. Had xfinity come out multiple times, signal quality was perfect on their end, they even replaced all the coax and re-did the grounds. Rented one of their modems for a month, was rock solid. Was going to give up on it, but the last modem finally has been problem free. Moral of the story: if you get this, test immediately and return at the first sign of trouble.

Had this since Aug of 2021 and I have never had to reboot it like my previous Netgears. Rock solid. (Cox cable btw)

If you have a decent solution then maybe just wait until early 2024 when we might finally see upload speeds go up with DOCSIS 4.0 and you will have to buy yet another new modem. Modems not available yet. Comcast has not rolled it out yet. But this should be a much better future proof solution then.

If you really need a modem now get any decent DOCSIS 3.1 32/8. I have been riding the Netgear CM1100 (Costco) for 2 years now. Very stable, no complains.

Comcast executives also hinted that the company is preparing to rev up plans for DOCSIS 4.0, a new generation of technology for widely deployed hybrid fiber/coax (HFC) networks that will deliver multi-gigabit symmetrical speeds along with enhanced security and low-latency capabilities.

Given it is Comcast, I believe it when I see it, and who knows what they will charge for it. My hope still is I get https://www.sonic.com/ to show up here and I switch immediately.

Bought one of these two years ago to use with Comcast/ Xfinity. I must be one of the more lucky ones because our unit has been trouble-free since Day 1. I wonder whether there are regional variances for Comcast as to the firmware updates because ours has stayed out of trouble while many other users have had theirs messed up by the firmware pushes.

The xfinity issue with this modem was real. Around the end of 2022 and early 2023 it would reset and disconnect constantly. Haven't had any issues in the last 5 months, I think the issue has been resolved.

Been running the 8600 version of this with xfinity for about a year. Its been flawless. Curious about the others complaining of firmware updates hosing it, does Xfinity push firmware updates to customer owned modems? I'm sure they do to leased ones.

Tempted to buy this but I instead went with the Moto MB8600. The 8600 works great on Xfinity and is starting to become a bit hard to find local retail wise, Just activated another 8600 on Spectrum's 500 meg per second plan to replace an aging Docsis 3.0 24x8 and now its running fast and strong plus the extra Fiber(OFDMA) channel helps as well. My ping with the Docsis 3.0 modem was 30ms but once I converted to Docsis 3.1 it went down to 9ms(fiber channel helped).

The price lowered as sales aren't so hot for this modem compared to its brother the MB8600 which seems to be the best "It's Gig capable and it works" modem.

Yes any modem that can take a Firmware update Xfinity, Spectrum, COX and others push updates automatically to. As long as they are activated they will download the newest firmware from the Firmware server for that ISP it activated on.

I was about to buy this but then I checked my bill and Spectrum isn't charging me for a modem. Make sure to check your bill before wasting money!

With all due respect the pace ISP's do upgrades docsis 4.0 will be out 2025 if we are lucky! Also there will always be something new and shiny around the corner when it comes to technology! Buy now if you need it.

Any comments on whether Docsis 3.1 will show a difference over 3.0 if i have gigabit internet?
Are you getting the speed you are paying for via a speed test? The ideal way to check this is via a laptop or desktop connected via Ethernet to your current modem. If you are already getting 1gbs then this won't help. In general Docsis 3.0 will only download up to about 250 Mbps down...so this would substantially improve your speed if that's the case. That being said...do you need the speed? Most people never come anywhere near saturating a 1 gbs connection. However they have less than ideal Wi-Fi at home and try to speed up their Internet with a faster connection to the house. This is why you should check things at the modem to figure out the weak link. Better WiFi coverage might be needed instead.

Been using this with WOW for quite a while now and I too had some issues with random disconnects suddenly. So I started digging. One thing I started to wonder if there was something about the ISP changing it's signal or it being firmware related leading to the modem being a lot more sensitive to "noise" than before. I swapped every cable etc I could find and the thing that seemed to solve every issue for me is taking out the powered splitter that was installed in my home before I moved in. I swapped it for a regular splitter and all my issues went away. Ymmv obviously but it just made me think this modem somehow is very sensitive to signal issues. It's been perfect again since though.
