we have this . it fits small women well (under 5'6) . even generous shoulder area. It's got additional baffles around the face & collarbone. Also extra insulation and room at the feet. It replaced an expensive North Face . This one is more durable with better protection against zipper jams. Oveall a better product. Warmer insulation at the same "rating"

Apologies for the slight derailment. I've never been camping before. I know I need a tent. Do I absolutely need sleeping bags like this or inflatable beds and some blankets and pillows are enough?is cold weather protection the main benefit of sleeping bags?
All depends on the weather. Inflatable beds provide surprising little insulation and can be quite cold. If it's >60f at night, that won't matter. If its much colder and you're car camping, a thick blanket underneath is warm and a comforter on top will likely be fine.

Bring wool socks or down booties; a thick hat; and a base layer that covers neck to ankles. You can choose to add or subtract pieces depending on how it turns out. If you're at a campground with electricity, an electric blanket can be awesome. Most tent sites do not have electric.

Generally, a sleeping bag will often be warmer and more convenient but if you're unsure this is your thing you might wait. If you're expecting to love it, Campsaver has some very good deals on Big Agnes: https://www.campsaver.com/sleepin...west-price

I have a Torchlight 20 and very much like it. It's an expandable bag and I like roomy. I returned an adult XL REI Down Time since I found the footbox very constraining.

Good luck!

One point of clarification on insulation required under you. Camping in early Autumn on a 50F night is different than a 50F night in Spring due to the ground temperature. The warmer ground in Autumn means you might be ok with an uninsulated air mattress, but you'll likely be cold in Spring without insulation under you.

This is great, it's worth point out the kindercone is easier to store and clean.

Down bags pack smaller, but have to be stored uncompressed with nothing on top of them. Our kindercones are just stuffed in their brilliant stuff sack and thrown in the closet.

Down can be trickier to wash and dry, which matters with small children.

This is crazy cheap for down though.

Pretty sure down is more tolerant to being compressed than synthetic. Both should be stored uncompressed ideally but down would sustain less damage than synthetic.
You're definitely right about washing down though.

Pretty sure it's the opposite. Down is more fragile.

Anyway, the comparison is against the kindercones, which when stored in its built in sack is fine.
