I saw in the Amazon reviews a mention about cracked PCBs on Gigabyte RTX 30xx and 40xx series GPUs. Is this something to be concerned about on this model?

Fair, but when the 7800xt is still $50 cheaper and 6800xt has been seen at stupid low prices this isn't really a deal

Also I highly doubt prices will rise come black Friday. Let's wait and see

And your comment is fair, also. But if one is going to buy a same-tier AMD card for less, they have to be willing to give up the raytracing and DLSS3 that the Nvidia cards have. Which is probaby why the AMD cards are selling for less in the first place.
And you're probably right - there'll be some GPU deals on BF, but I'd bet the number of cards offered will be depleted quickly on the higher-end 'deals'. Nothing like people camping out overnight at Bestbuy to grab an RTX 3080 several years ago, but still.

7800xt beats it hands down for 1080p gaming, but 1440p with ray tracing is where the 4070 shines. I have a Radeon card now but will probably jump on a 4070 if it gets a little cheaper
They are actually closer at 1080p and the gap starts to widen as the resolution increases.

The 7800 XT actually beats it in ray tracing in a few odd ball games and the overall difference with ray tracing is about 10%.

I currently have both cuase the starfield promo made it a no brainier to just buy the 7800 XT and put it on marketplace for 450.

I have a g8 neo Odyssey 4k monitor that I got second hand.

I'm seeing a consistent 10-20% plus difference in 1% lows in favor of the 7800 XT at 4k on high instead of ultra, in pretty much all games. It's not that much faster than a 6800 XT but the 1% low are quite a bit better.

I think it's pretty compelling for 4k, high, 60 plus fps gaming.

I agree, love microcenter, they always treated me great, will always prefer to purchase from them then anywhere else when it comes to PC parts.
Except for the power supply, purchased everything from Microcenter for my last two pc builds. Does it cost more? Of course, but I don't care, as I want them to make money and stay around in my area.

I'd really like to get Starfield and Hogwarts Legacy over the holidays/winter. I am on an EVGA GTX 1070 SC from 2018 still and primarily play PUBG. I recently got the LG UltraGear QHD 34-Inch Curved Gaming Monitor 34GP83A-B and that has peaked my interest in upgrading my card finally even though PUBG still does ok on it.

Can someone offer advice on what would be the best bang for my buck upgrade knowing I'll probably use the same card for 5-6 years? I'd like to keep it under $500. The AMD Starfield bundle seems like a good option but I've always been partial to NVIDIA (maybe that's not the case anymore?). Thanks for any guidance!

funny no one cares about GPUS anymore that crypto mining is dead
funny that now there is plenty of supply that they said there was a supply shortage?

better discount it by 50% for BF bois.

I upgraded from an intel x58 system (~ year 2010) with an X5675 CPU overclocked to 4.1 GHz, to the latest gen, z790 with 15-13600k, no overclock. With a 1070 Ti on each system, there was almost no difference in FurMark benchmark. I think I got literally 1 frame higher on the new system (44 vs 45 fps). Does this seem normal? Should I use a different benchmark software? It seems crazy that there was no difference.
I am far from an expert on FurMark. But, I understand that it is a stress test for the GPU and not the CPU. Since you tested the 1070 Ti on both systems, that seems to be the expected outcome. If you're trying to find out how much better the upgrade is for productivity, you may use something like Blender, Chromium Compile, Adobe Premier or other equivalent software; provided you measured that on your previous build. This is all academic otherwise.

comparing the two pictures; they are different pcb boards (screw placement).

When does buyer remorse kick in?

"when raw power becomes too much to push high end graphics in content rich games"

" when the game crashes and you wonder why you ended up spending so much money"

"hoping for the unveiling of technology that is already available...your slow"

"waiting for technology to unveil and then wait again for it to work well with games you enjoy... your lost"

Pick the card that best fits your favorite game within your budget. or you'll be SLOW LOST!

Bigger question is; are you able to stop AI from living in your computer through your GPU?

Ray tracing and dlss are definitely better on Nvidia.

But it's quite a bit closer in ray tracing then the 6 series. There's a few oddball games where it actually beats it in ray tracing and averages only about 10% slower overall with ray tracing. Fsr 2.2 is pretty great in a few games especially at 4k but still has issues but supposedly fsr 3 is pretty good and there's specific ai upscaling coming to just the 7 series, but hold your breath lol.

Overall tho, I was seeing a pretty significant difference in 1% lows between the 2 cards at 4k, often in the 10-20% plus range.

If your target is 4k (high, not ultra) gaming in the 60 plus fps range, the 7800 XT is pretty compelling and easily wins that category now as things stand. And has supposed future improvements to look forward to. You shouldn't buy a product for future promises but it's currently winning that category anyways, so I don't see the problem in this case.
ray tracing is a gimmick. Same for dlss..
useless functionality. Fsr can be applied to practically any game, no need for game developers integration

I agree the 7800 xt is a better value, but the 4070 draws 50 watts less under load. This card should be able to slot into any rig running a 3060, 2060,1070, or 970 without the need to upgrade the PSU.

4070 is competing with 7800 XT unless you are going for RT
It's all about frame generation and DLSS 3.5.

Stupid question here - So I have an old I7 7700K. If I pair this GPU with it, I know it will obviously bottleneck and I won't get the most out of the card...BUT...approximately, how much of it's power will I be able to unlock? Like 30%? 40%? 70%?
Depends on what you play and what you run in the background. Close your browser tabs and it should still play everything on the market. I would think you could get near 100% of the card used. Just be careful using video settings that use the Reflex Boost. That will use some CPU with the GPU at times. I think the question is, how long will it last. I would think it would hold over for the next year or so. My three cents.

I just got a RTX 4070 TI for $670 and it looks new to me. I don't see any blemishes or anything but I haven't install it in yet. How is the RX 7800 XT vs RTX 4070 TI compares? Not many comparison vids are out yet
