I used it every day and the ceramic coating flakes off the inside of the mug. Technically it's safe but the cup looks awful inside and something about knowing the ceramic continues to flake off in my drink bothered me.
I stopped using mine and got a dumb version of a electric warming mug from Walmart for $40 and it has lasted me over 2+ years with no paint or coating flaking. The inside looks a little scratched up but that's to be expected. No flaking off substance though.
I would not recommend this unless you really need Bluetooth and app connection
Feel free to look up ember mub flaking you'll see it's super common. At least it was on the Ember 2 mug I had, not sure they've fixed it in newer models.

It's kind of like how a glass of water with ice will stay at exactly 32F until all the ice has melted, even though you're adding energy into the cup by leaving it out. No batteries required, either.
I suspect by Christmas, we'll see the reverse of this product. A glass on an expensive pad that keeps one's drink cold, thus removing the awful experience of drinking the ice-melted, watery mess of a soda which you've sipped on like a dozing mouse.
Their support is great and have shipped out replacements after submitting an online ticket.

Same crowd that drives rugged over-priced rock climbing jeeps (in the city).
There. I feel better now
