Totally worth it, but there is a hidden cost: You will only want to purchase movies with ATMOS.

As noted in previous posts about the Q990, I was totally wowed by how well it was able to fill a 20x20 open floorplan living room with 13' tall ceilings with sound from Maverick. I just purchased a couple of Blu-Rays without ATMOS and was disappointed in myself I did not spend the extra few bucks. Sucks that ATMOS only comes on 4K media because I cannot tell enough of a difference between BD and 4K on my 85" Q90B.

Oh no, it sounds great without ATMOS content--and much better than just the TV. Plus it has a great subwoofer which the TV could never replicate. It's just that the up-firing ATMOS content really fills the room with sound.

When I tried this, they told me that there was not any offers for this model. You may have to ask more than once, but eventually did get them to build the shopping cart with this pricing. Thank you!

Would having an uneven ceiling (both sloped/shed and stepped ceiling, like a soffit) render the upfiring speakers pointless? If so, I will consider a more basic/affordable speaker system.

Hey, considering the conditions aren't perfect for it, you probably won't get good results from Atmos. The rest of the system is well worth it though, the Atmos is more of a bonus feature in these soundbars, as it doesn't come close to replicating actual Atmos ceiling speakers regardless of conditions. If you don't care about having the best, I'm sure there are better values in the $200-400 range if you just want good loud sound, but $700-800 is a great price for this.
