You would blow 50%-100%+ of your $800 budget on a receiver that could support this many Atmos channels, plus then you need all the speakers. Running wires into your ceiling for a "legit" Atmos setup is also a serious PITA, and in general, a massive HT setup just doesn't pass the WAF.

Sound bars have come a long way vs. the models that existed 10 years ago.

Don't think you'll see better than this without bundling. Have the 990B and continued impressed with it even 12+ months later. Have tried Sony HTA9, Ambeo, KEF LS50II and others. None have the entire package, ease of use, and truly immersive around, especially at this price!

I didn't do the 10% off :-( I had to get my brother to sign up for the Galaxy Campus Store which just requires that you be a student with a .edu e-mail I believe. I was able to then use his account to purchase. I think this might be the lowest I've seen that's not a YMMV deal.

You can always return it and re-purchase if they do not price match - they have a 100 day trial policy on this soundbar that you can take advantage of.

Even if you could afford Sonos etc, simply not worth it at all. Unless you are going for a full blown HT setup with receiver , copper etc, Samsung 990, at THIS price is simply unbeatable. It's really not even an opinion.

Suppose die hard fans of Sonos and the mental tranquility of having all the same ecosystem is one reason to spend TRIPLE. I'd argue then, if you saving is of NO consequence, to get 990 as a dedicated HT and keep Sonos as your multi room whatever system.
