I'm wondering if just the deposit of $500 is enough to get the bonus, or if I could deposit the $500, then transfer it out to where I need it, and just keep the account open (with little balance) until the bonus is added

Does NOT work for the Amazon Pay w/ Points promos. I learned the hard way when they first launched the Amex checking account lol. I closed the account month ago. This account can only use the account reimbursement points redemption (unless you also have an Amex MR credit card) from what I recall.
I wonder if I'm eligible for the bonus now if I open a new account (terms don't state anything about previously having the account). It still shows on my Amex app but as closed, which is very annoying to still see.
They almost always say this, and it's almost always BS. Haven't tried this one myself but just a guess. No harm in trying PayPal Robinhood Venmo etc.
