This is an easy $250, but the ACH deposit needing to be from employer or government kind of sucks. My employer only allows for my entire check to be moved through a direct deposit request and not just a portion

so I know it literally says this:

As a data point, I made my direct deposit on Monday 9/25 and I just got the email today 10/3 that I can expect the welcome bonus in 8-12 weeks.

i think so? i just read the terms email after my confirmed direct deposit, and the only caveat i see there is that you cannot close your account BEFORE receiving the $250 bonus. But would love for someone else to confirm as well https://www.americanexpress.com/c...-terms.pdf

I can confirm. I did one dd, then canceled the dd. I just received an email from Amex today saying I qualified for the offer. However it may take 6 to 8 weeks to deposit. So I will just wait I guess

Whoops, I see i mis-spoke. Agreed you only have to DD once to be eligible. Now i'm more curious if
1. How long (if at all) do we have to keep the $500 in the account prior to receiving the bonus
2. Once we receive the $250 bonus, are we then able to close the account/transfer all funds?

8-12 weeks for the $250 bonus to appear. You've already fulfilled your obligations when DD your $500. No need to add more if you don't want to. I wouldn't close the account. I'd just leave the $500 there unless you really need it.

THe $250 incentive just hit for me, 1 week after the first deposit hit. Now the key question, when can i transfer funds out to basically close the account? I think it's as soon as you receive the bonus....

From the terms: "You must keep your account open and in good standing until we award you your welcome Bonus. If your account is closed for any reason prior to such time, including being closed by us, you will not be eligible for the Welcome Bonus. If we determine, in our sole discretion, that you have violated the Rewards Checking Account Terms or have engaged in abuse, misuse, or gaming in connection with your account, we may determine that you are not eligible for the Welcome Bonus. In such circumstance, we may rescind or decline to award you the Welcome Bonus."

Same here. My direct deposit hit on September 29th and I just received the $250 bonus today. They originally sent an email that acknowledged the direct deposit then they sent another email yesterday (10/04) that said the bonus is on the way and would be deposited within 8-12 weeks.

My direct deposit hit on Sept 29, I received the email notification of the bonus from Amex on Oct 4th, & received the bonus in the checking account on Oct 5th. This will pay for the gold card fee.
