It was almost surprisingly the same type of damage. About a quarter to a third of the keys were skewed and wedged together, unable to be pressed down. Kawai said that it is due to shipping but if you ask me, you could drop it off a building and I find it hard to believe it would cause the kind of damage I noted. In my opinion, there are two issues at play here: 1) Kawai should improve their piano packaging, and 2) Adorama requires a specialized shipper who understands how to handle delicate items like this.

First two attachments are from the 1st piano. Second two attachments are from the 2nd piano.

If you order, force the shipper to wait until you unpack the piano to ensure it is damage free and working. It will save you a huge headache later if it is damaged. Best of luck!

Waiting on my 3rd piano hoping it isn't damaged like the first two. I ordered in mid-July. Although they do keep sending new pianos, the Adorama customer support has been frustrating to work with. It's like they don't think it's that big of a deal that I dropped $1,500 two months ago and have nothing to show for it.

Is there a running theme with the damage or is it a different issue each time?

There is a pretty big difference between CA49 and CA59, but it looks like there are never awesome deals on CA59 :-/

Oh wow, I was expecting damage to be isolated to the cabinet.

There have been complaints for years about different Kawai models having stuck or misaligned keys. No matter how they were delivered. So this really could be a Kawai problem, not so much a shipping problem.

I ordered one at the last price drop over Labor Day. I was nervous based on other's experience but luckily it arrived a few days ago in perfect condition. My son hasn't stopped playing it since.
