If you really like the set and think he would too, grab and put away for when he's older. I did that with my son. That way, you don't miss out when the set is retired.

I let my 6yo build whatever set he wanted to. He even built the VW T2 Camper van on his own. If he struggles just help him through that part. Being able to build or being given the chance to build the more complicated at a younger age really helps build problem solving skills for later on.

Now he's 13 and mocks up his own sets then buys the right colors on the Lego site and makes the final model to be displayed. I guess if your kid finishes builds very quickly don't be afraid to challenge them with harder sets. It gives them a chance to be in charge of the build while having you right there to help get pieces together that they don't have the strength for.

I built this with my 3 year old. he didn't help much but it's surprisingly sturdy and holds up to toddler play. The rear tire falls off very easily though.
