R646 - 2021

Which begs the question why is this almost 700 dollars?

This shouldnt even be sold new in stores anymore.

This set is from 2020. I've had the 55" version for 3 years now and it's been great. That said, lacking HDMI 2.1 is a bit frustrating as a gamer given the necessity of you want to do any of the 40Hz modes.

100% recommend this TV for the price. There is an app that lets you calibrate the colors if you have an iPhone. After calibration it is surprisingly almost perfect color recreation with natural dim/bright zones. Most TV's are a little heavy on red colors and after tuning this set it is the most color accurate display I've ever had.

If you are in the market do not pass this TV up, I freaking love it
Hello, what is the app on the iPhone called?

Over the years I have owned many Hisense and TCL TVs and have given a few to relatives. I never had any problem with any of them. My wife sleeps with the TV on and these TVs never die on us.
I think there are people who root for competing brands or simply don't like Chinese products are here to say bad things about them.

Sad to report my week old unit will need to be returned. A large dark spot appeared today. Tried to work TCL but my TV doesn't have a serial number sticker. I'd recommend keeping your box a bit wish I had. Normally do so for a month or two but not this time and now I'm paying for it
It should have serial no somewhere in the tv settings menu..

Bought this about a month ago, for some reason whenever i play a show the audio would cut off completely to my soundbar. I have to exit the show and re-start the show in order for the audio to start again.

Returned it. Sucks bc its a nice tv. OS is kinda laggy along with input delay from remote.

Hmm

This Costco tv is not r635...

It's r636

Either Costco got some specs mixed up or r636 is a refresh of 3 year old r635 with better specs

If you click on the link to the manual, it says R635. I suspect that the 'r636' is a typo on Costco's part, as I can't find a reference to it anywhere else.

Any 75 inch or larger ROKU tv that TCL makes? I like the Roku OS over google.
Buy a standalone Roku, run it! 👍🏼

Honestly, for the best experience, just buy any good TV and buy a standalone Roku. Eventually the Roku OS will start to get slower, and you can buy a new Roku device. I never recommend buying a TV for the OS.
Been using my TCL 55P605 since 2018.

The built in Roku OS has been great this entire time. Quick as can be and even works well with Google Assist even though it's not really a smart TV.

I can set volume, turn on/off, change inputs all with Google Assist.

Only thing is I finally ended up getting a Samsung 11.1.4 soundbar setup and it's not perfect with that.

Crazy how quickly MiniLED TV tech came down in price when its only a 2 year old technology. I actually pref MiniLED over OLED even when it comes to color accuracty and brightness its kinda unbeatable

RokuOS sucks. I thought it was Google, definitely wouldn't buy it now. Doesn't help that it's been sitting somewhere for 3+ years and just now they are selling these.

If you use it with the HDMI cable not the optical, and plug it in the correct spot on the TV, should just be plug in play. Works with no issues.

That's exactly what I'm doing.

Still, I get issues like it not automatically coming on and being the audio source UNTIL I turn my laptop (which is HDMI2) on.

For instance, I turn PS5 (HDMI1) on and get no sound until I turn my laptop on.

90% of the time voice doesn't work because it says wifi disconnected. (No tvs fault)

Half the time the TV remote will control the volume and half the time it'll bring up the volume number on the TV but won't actually change the volume. Just keeps showing the same volume.

Once in a while, the volume OSD on the TV just goes buck wild and changes to random amounts ever half second until I turn the source to something else.

Again, using the eARC port WITH the cable that came with the speakers.
