The circular saw is the only tool I have from Ryobi that I am not actually a fan of. Blade tends to get stuck often in the middle of a cut. Frustrating. I tend to favor the plug in saws if I had a longer cut to make. For short cuts on 2x4 or something similar, Ryobi is fine.

I think it's really dependent on how much you use them. I've had Ryobi has my main line and do pretty much everything DYI. I've yet to be unhappy. That said, I've only seen pros use Milwaukee or Dewalt. I don't know how much beating Ryobi can take in comparison.

This was a great deal even without the hack: 2 4.0AH batteries and the 1-handed recip for $50 eac is pretty decent.

I also stacked it w/ the $25 off $150 HD Credit Card coupon that I received in the mail recently (good through 11/1). Codes are 1-time use I believe.

Ended up getting a few more tools than I thought I would. All for the vacation house since I have everything listed already. Was planning on keeping the one $199 kit I bought, but I had already picked up the brushless drill in the sale a few months ago and had an extra brushless impact driver to go with it. Returned all the $99 batteries at the time of pick up this morning and I'll return the $199 kit later today when I pick up the last item from a different store where it was in stock.

I use a one-handed reciprocating saw with pruning blade for trimming and cutting down bushes. In the cases where I'm going to remove the bush entirely, after trimming down to near the ground, dig up around the trunk to expose the roots, then cut the roots with the saw. Before I had this saw, I would use a mattock to cut the roots.

It's a welcome addition to my bush and tree trimming arsenal of Fiskars pruning stik, one and two handed loppers, electric and manual pole saws, regular reciprocating saw, chainsaw.

The pruning blade isn't affected by dirt. Occasionally, it might hit a rock in the ground or a part of the trunk and bend. Sometimes repairable by using pliers to straighten out the blade. Haven't noticed a difference in cutting performance when using name brand vs. generic pruning blades. 6" blade for one-handed saw and 9" or 12" blade for regular saw.
I exclusively use my big P519D for cutting down bushes and limbs and just bought the 1-handed. Is there a reason you use the shorter blade for 1-handed? Long blades are handy for reach.

Just preference. Most of the time I am using the one-handed saw, the branches are 3" or less in diameter.

Quote from bobdob They make Ridgid Battery to Ryobi Tool adapters.

Adapters do not work for batteries manufactured after 2021 even if they fit. Rigid made modifications . Your post is incorrect

I didn't know that. "Problematic" kind of implies not working or not working properly. My comment isn't incorrect.

I got the one handed reciprocating saw and bought a Diablo 6" 3TPI carbide tipped blade. Went out to the yard and started sawing some roots and bushes trunk base. Worked great. The only caution I would make is that with the one handed, your other hand better be carefully placed away from where the saw blade might contact. With a 2 handed reciprocating saw, your other hand is always supporting the weight of the saw. Just have to be more careful.

It's hackable. Your receipt will show prorated price for the kit and for the "free" tool. Just return the kit and you can keep the jigsaw.

I have used Ryobi for DYI projects for years w/o any issues. I would go with another brand if they didn't change the battery ever few years. That is the main reason I stick with Ryobi.

My main cordless tools line is Ridgid. But there are things they don't make (e.g., stapler) that I'd like to have - in a nice to have sorta way - but also expect to use not these all that often. I understand I can buy an adaptor for Ridgid to ______.

I wanna keep it to one other brand...do you recommend Milwaukee or Ryobi?
I mostly have Ridgid tools as it's hard to beat lifetime battery warranty and I've used it a few times already. I needed a LED light and considering I'm a few minutes away from Factory Tools Outlet, I got a light and bought an adapter to use my Ridgid battery, works great. Then I was looking at a 16 and 18ga finishing/brad nailers and came across the Ryobi P322 which is well reviewed and priced well for what it is, it was upgraded brushless model and came with 2 free batteries so I went for it and bought a charger for $15. Figured It's not too bad and I like tools. After using the brad nailer and light, I was actually quite surprised with the quality given it's price range and that nailer was on point every hit. So now I'm really considering Ryobi, their available products and I've been picking up little things here and there lol. Got a Hot Glue gun for $20, a workbench light for same and just picked up 2 more batteries with a pruning mini saw that will come in handy, I have a corded one and it's such a pain.

It's the one off affordable items where they have the edge I think for a 2nd line in your garage plus price factor for a home DIYer and slowly it's becoming my 2nd platform along with Ridgid and at this rate. Plus for me it helps I have local access to Discount Tools Outlet (no shipping concerns, easy returns etc).

For Rigid I have their drill, couple of 1/4" impact drivers, circular saw, multi-tool, recip saw, 1/2" high torque impact wrench. These should get the job done even if a bit demanding. I also got a 2nd 1/2" milwaukee high torque impact wrench with one M18 battery that I use when needed, it was a gift but I already had Ridgid one and they both do well, I don't think Milwaukee is THAT much better than the Ridgid one. Plus all the new one off Ryobi stuff that I'm starting to piece together. For someone like me who is not a pro but does like to have tools to work around the house or on projects, I felt the combo of Ridgid and Ryobi was good since Ridgid still makes good quality products with great warranty and I feel in the gaps with Ryobi.

What tool does everyone think is the best value here for the price?
The tool you will use. For the "hack" Highest value is the grease gun but if you are just buying for the value and never use it, it has no value.

Dang wish I lived near a DTO store. With one nearby its really a no-brainer to go ryobi for first or even second line

Bought the battery deal with brushless 6 1/2" circular saw, in store pickup from locker. Went to store, pulled items from locker and went directly to the Customer Service Desk and returned the batteries (I have a ton!) and got pro-rated refund, no questions asked. FYI, I told the woman that I did not realize the batteries were not HP type, but to be honest, she could care less!

Super deal for saw for less than $50.

There was a site that showed historical low prices on DTO - anyone have a link?
