The circular saw is the only tool I have from Ryobi that I am not actually a fan of. Blade tends to get stuck often in the middle of a cut. Frustrating. I tend to favor the plug in saws if I had a longer cut to make. For short cuts on 2x4 or something similar, Ryobi is fine.

I think it's really dependent on how much you use them. I've had Ryobi has my main line and do pretty much everything DYI. I've yet to be unhappy. That said, I've only seen pros use Milwaukee or Dewalt. I don't know how much beating Ryobi can take in comparison.

I have the small and non-brushless version of the circular saw and it's *ok*. Their reciprocating saw though, has been a pain with the blade getting bogged down and the blade even getting yanked out of the saw.

After getting a couple of things from this sale and logging them in my spreadsheet, I thought I'd share my averages as a point of reference for others getting into the Ryobi system. This is over a year of selective purchases using the common strategies and clearance sales. Purchases were from Home Depot and DTO for 99% of them. I have overpaid for a couple of things at DTO when I first started, so this is not boasting. Just an average person's experience. Virtually everything was store pickup or free shipping but I did not include the total $30 of shipping I've paid over the year.

Per Tool (Mix of Brushed and Brushless): $33.30/tool (Only true tools. Batteries not counted. Chargers are not counted as tools in this figure. I did count two LED flashlights in kits.)
HP Battery: $6.53/Ah
Standard non-HP Battery: $4.94/Ah

*Battery averages are from battery sets only. I did not include batteries included in tool kits in the calculations. I did include the amazing $55 eBay HP 6/4/2 Ah kit.
*Treated the included chargers as free in battery kits.
*Tax not included.

Usually the outer end gets a bit dull first, but perfectly usable for a while for ground work ...

I just needed the batteries so yesterday I bought the 2 pack with charger and the grease gun since it is the highest priced item. Returned the grease gun ($63.88 refund) and 2 batteries with charger came out to $37.99 which is a pretty good deal. Earlier this week I bought the $199 6 tool combo and used the pro extra $20 off coupon so overall I got the 6 tool combo with 4 batteries and 2 chargers for a little more than $200. I am stoked

Is this deal dead? Tried adding the 2 batteries but they show $200 as the base cost. Assumed that adding the eligible "free" item would correct it in cart but all it does is discount the grease gun and the batteries together to be $200 total.

Yup. Been using the one handed reciprocating saw with a diablo carbide blade. Works great, even in dirt. One doesnt quite know how useful some tools are until you have them and find out how much one uses them. The Ryobi that surprised me in terms of how much I use it is the SDS plus 1" ONE+ hammer drill. Turns out it is great to dig through clay soil for planting, drilling through concrete for posts, removing a layer of concrete for flattening the floor near walls and door frames, etc. above and beyond its intended use of removing tile.

No, you are doing something wrong. When you click the link for the two crap batteries it takes you right to the HD page and shows $99 special buy. From there you click on the free tool special buy right under the $99.

I have a mix of all the basic hand tools (drills, vacuums, impact drivers, impact wrenches, grinder, brad nailer, blower, die grinder, etc.) I don't have many of the more expensive specialty tools, chopsaw, planers, etc. I have a mix of brushed and brushless. Brushless will be for loaners mostly. One thing that really helped me was getting the ~$140 brushed 8-tool DTO brushed kit a year ago and the recent ~$154 brushless 6-tool kit.
