That's what makes it tough. I've bought from RA before. The issue is as you said, especially if you don't care what version of a part you buy. So let's say you're doing brakes and you need F/R pads and rotors. They might sell a few different manufacturers of each, maybe they're all more or less the same price and you don't have preference. Then you notice that the ones you selected ship from different warehouses so you have multiple shipping charges. What do you do? Go back and try to select the correct set of products such that your shipping charges are minimized.
Then I'll compare that with online pickup from a local place that always has crazy online coupons.
Often they wind up being more or less the same price so I'll just buy what I can get locally for simplicity and in case there's an issue I can go right to the store.
As mentioned they have some new features to help with that.
They also show the truck if it will ship from the same warehouse. So if you picked your thermostat what hoses will ship from the same place.
It's not perfect though. If I'm doing work I might be doing the whole front suspension but while I'm at it this other thing that's sort of unrelated and I don't want to pay $13 shipping on. You have to still fiddle with it some. But it's better than it was. It's kinda like a game to me at this point
It is not a referral code. OP or who ever rockauto gave the code to does not get anything from this.
RockAuto is great buy you need to know what you are ordering. I always double check with the parts manufacture to see if that parts is the right part for my car. Go to the manufacture's website and cross reference the part number. If you order the wrong part, it is going to cost you to send it back.
Another pro tip.
How they calculate shipping is kind of weird especially if you order heavy parts, like rotors or CV axle. Even though it is coming from the same warehouse, it can cost more when you order it together.
Shipping for my two CV axle was $13.99 for both.
Shipping for my front brakes/rotor $12.99. When ordered together, I would image it would be $27 or less, but it came out to be $68 total for shipping. So I just had to do 2 separate orders.
You just gotta play around with it if you are ordering oversize heavy item.
Big fan of RockAuto. I never have to worry about the provenance of the part and they usually carry the good stuff (along with the really cheap parts). My go to. As well as FCP Euro. These two get all of my business.
If it ain't broke... But if it is broke, and IT is your car, rock auto is the place to go!
I've never had much luck with their website. Always felt like something I needed to invest time to figure out how to make it work...which never appealed to me. But I have always heard great things about RA so perhaps I am in the minority.

What kind of issue have you had?
First, you scroll to your car.
Then, you go to the kind of part you're buying
Find one that's in stock
Add it to your cart
repeat
Then, check out at the end.

Did OP find/post this code after seeing the Advance Auto Parts brake caliper deal and then looking at Rock Auto afterwards? That's why I was on RA last night at least haha

Only downside is they charge for shipping and you could get hit with multiple shipping charges if your products are coming from different warehouses.
I don't know if you guys knew this but here is the link to the RockAuto discount code megathread on slickdeals that has new updated discount codes.
