Found this deal. Standard price of a Series X but with Starfield for free. Not much of a deal if you have Game Pass but is if you do not.

Starfield is on Gamepass which most Xbox consoles players have for multiplayer. Not good deal at MSRP for console. Rather see $149.99 Xbox Series S Verizon Deal again.
Good deal. Starfield is great, it's going to be one of those games that are around for 10 years. Look forward to seeing what the mod community comes up with.
I'm 15 hours in to Starfield and I think I'm done. What a snooze fest and this is coming from a big Oblivion, FO4, and Skyrim fan.

I keep hearing this and it's the only reason I've even lasted 15 hours, but I think the core gameplay and the irritating bugs are just not for me.

Combat is dull and unsatisfying, I can pretty much just run into a gunfight, unload a clip into an enemy, tank all the shots, and medpack when needed.

Somehow I got a bounty on me from the Freestar and even after I paid it, an NPC said "Oh, looks like you have a bounty on you. You should get that taken care of." Of course, I run all the way back to pay it but it shows I have no bounty on me.

An NPC ship starts firing at me so I defend myself and destroy it. My companions didn't like it. Would they rather us be blown up???

Lots of boring fetch quests which consist of running back and forth

There's a point in the main quest line where you unlock some stuff. To unlock it, you basically fly back and forth between points in space in a room, so dull and pointless.

Uninspired graphics with some awful facial modeling. The "dead eyes" meme is real.

RE: the bounty hunter stuff, it sounds to me like you chose the "Wanted" perk when you started the game. I think that one's harder to clear and can only be done in a few specific places.

I HATE everything about the ship battles. I don't know if the problem is that I've never had a good grasp of how to effectively airtight or if the controls suck but I just find those parts painfully annoying.

Combat is OK if you've got an appropriate difficulty setting but a better cover mechanic would definitely be nice. I was really hoping for a Bethesda take on the Mass Effect trilogy but this feels more like a mashup between Morrowmind and ME: Andromeda.

This is a great game if you like opening cabinets and looking at items on desks with the occasional strand type gameplay

I'm playing Starfield now and kind of enjoying it. I played Fallout 3&4 and enjoyed them, but couldn't really get into Oblivion or Skyrim. The shooting in Starfield is actually pretty good, but so far I find the exploring/characters to not be as interesting as in the Fallout games. I'm playing on Series X because my PC's GPU isn't up to the challenge. Quick resume is really great for this game because I don't have time to really enjoy long sessions and appreciate being able to quickly jump in and out.

I don't think this is a great deal for an XBox Series X. Starfield is on Game Pass and always will be. If you're buying a Series X and not getting Game Pass, then you're kind of doing it wrong. I get the "I want to buy it and not just rent it" attitude, but then wait for the GOTY edition with all the DLC for $30 in 2 years, rather than getting it now. You'd have to be valuing Starfield at MSRP for this to be a mildly compelling deal.

The deal for Series X is buying Microsoft gift cards at discount and then buying the Series X from a Microsoft store.

Maybe if I paid for starfield I would've enjoyed it more but holy shit man. I wish they had to go back and redevelop this game but with almost no procedural generation.

That's the key thing that's made baldurs gate such a hit and starfield such a snooze fest. All larian games are extremely handcrafted. Starfield is almost all empty pointless proceduralness.

I have to agree with this. A smaller number of planets that were handcrafted would have been a LOT more engaging than the seemingly endless number of barren procedurally generated worlds.

I would rather have a Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty bundle. But anything like Fallout in solo offline is good in my book. I'm going to try to hold out for BF but I'm not getting any younger.

You'd be surprised how many people don't have it. I guess it makes sense with how bad the selection has been the last 2 years but most of my friends don't have it. Especially since all the free to play games don't require Xbox live anymore to play online.

Why r these consoles still selling at full price? Makes no sense 3 yrs later
Why is this surprising? I'm surprised they haven't increased in price. They were always losing money for Sony and Microsoft given they perform as well as PCs with graphics cards that cost (now) almost as much as the entire console does. Not to say I told you so but I told this to everyone who said they'd wait for the price cuts. I told them they aren't going to cut the prices, they're just going to bundle stuff you don't want and keep them where they are.

Apparently there's a certain "problematic" demographic missing from among the Starfield NPCs. That demographic being identical to most of the game's target audience. It's puzzling

First comes the end of the "limited supplies," then comes a continuation of retail price for a while, then they start adding freebies/bundles, then there are price drops and heavy holiday discounts. It's just been slow because of the government's heavy money printing and the typical Joe American shelling out cash - despite ridiculous prices on everything - without a second thought. Things will progress soon though...

Honestly, all the hate on this game I recommend taking with a grain of salt. People think it's boring.. That is personal preference. I have never felt bored in this game. I don't want to fan boy it, but I put this game in my top 5 of all time easy. Are the loading screens overdone? Yes. Are there flaws? Yes. Do other similar games do certain things better? Yes.

What this game does have is something I have never seen before. 100% flexibly to play exactly how you want. A true role-playing game. I enjoyed hour one to hour 120, and I am not even close to finishing the main story. My advice. Play it how you want and stick with what you find fun. Contrary to most Bethesda titles, you do want to do a solid run of the main story until you feel compelled to do your own thing. Faction missions are awesome and 100% worth doing. The last one I did took me two days and could have been a game on its own.

Watch some reviews, both the good and the bad. Watch some gameplay and decide if it's for you. If you do decide to give it a chance, it can be the most robust and rewarding game you have ever played. This one is my opinion, but now that you see both sides make your own decision.

As far as the value, I have it on gamepass, and I purchased the physical copy after playing it, so I see lots of value in owning the disk version.

If this is the reason you make the leap to xbox, I say jump!

I've been seeing split reviews, being a huge fan of elder scrolls and fallout games, I've been waiting to see if they could keep the magic of the previous games.

One thing Bethesda does well is make games that have an old rustic, lived-in feel, and wasn't sure how that would translate to a clean modern space theme world. Would it have a soul or feel sterile?

After watching many reviews I admit I'm hesitant and need to see what DLC and support they have for the game. I'm happy to be patient on the sidelines and wait, won't rush out and buy an Xbox for one game.

I recommend checking out the gameranx (youtube) review for the game. He is very critical but fair in his review. That is nice to see with every other review, praising it or calling it trash.

I usually 100% agree with his opinion on games, but in this case, I like it much more than he does.

I am also a big Oblivion and Fall Out fan.

To answer your question, I feel the game does seem very lived in and alive. If you are not a fan of the procedural generation on planets, stick to the cities. The amount of dialog in this game is a whole new level I have never seen before. Want to know the clerk behind the counters' life story? You can! Pretty much any dialog enabled npc has a shocking amount of dialog.

If I were to wait on anything, it would be mod support to add immersion and quality of life fixes, but the game is great as is. Check it out on pc if you don't want to get the Xbox 😉
