iFi serves the final course of the micro iDSD banquet – the micro iDSD Finale
The award winning micro iDSD is set to launch its ultimate version
The micro iDSD is releasing its final edition, named the micro iDSD Finale. Only a limited 1,000 units will be available. This truly represents your final chance to own a piece of the esteemed micro iDSD legacy with the highly acclaimed micro iDSD Finale.
Maintaining the distinguished lineage of the highly acclaimed micro iDSD Black Label (the second-generation), the micro iDSD Finale is instantly recognisable, boasting the same iconic enclosure silhouette as its predecessors. However, it sets itself apart with a unique and modern titanium grey colour way, a fitting tribute to its name – the FINALE.
Powered by a 4,800mAh Lithium-Polymer rechargeable battery, the micro iDSD Finale provides an ultra-clean, ultra-stable DC power supply. This design effectively avoids the dips, spikes, and noise-inducing RFI/EMI typically associated with AC mains power supply. The battery can be conveniently recharged via the USB Type-C charge port, located on the right-hand side, next to the battery status LED.
The micro iDSD Finale features two digital audio inputs – USB Type-A and an S/PDIF socket that accepts both electrical, via a 3.5mm connector, and optical signals – adapter supplied.
It also houses a pair of RCA analogue outputs to connect to a pair of powered speakers or a power amp to act as a DAC.
There is a 6.3mm output for headphones that have a standard single-ended connector (headphones with a 3.5mm jack can be connected using an adapter) and a 4.4mm Balanced output for headphones offering our S-Balanced connection.
Both headphone outputs utilise our ‘S-Balanced’ output circuitry. This delivers the sonic benefits of balanced connections with all headphone/earphone types – even those with single-ended connectors – cutting crosstalk and associated distortion in half.
Finely tuned
Based around two Burr-Brown DAC chips in a custom ‘interleaved’ configuration, the digital engine ha

I've never seen someone walk around with headphones with an amp in their cargo shorts. Do y'all really do this?
Haha. I think when they say "portable" they don't mean "put it in your pocket" portable. It's more of a "office or living room" type of portable. If you want more portability at the cost of power, check out smaller Fiio dac/amps.

I carried this in trains before and when I studies in library, for example... but ya, if you're walking outside, it maybe not the best choice, or even wearing any earphones, period

This is portable. I use a sling or a man bag to carry it in. Bluetooth dongle for input. Perfect for hungry oversize planars, shout out to Fostex T50RP modded headphones.
I was looking for a solution for my desktop PC. This unfortunately runs off a battery. So that means once the battery dies you will have to replace it. I'm not sure how easy it is for this unit. It's something to consider when spending this much for this. I use my headphones a ton so a battery is no good.
