Before anyone chimes in on a $100 Monoprice strat copy being as good, they're not unless you put $250 into it. But you'll always have a guitar that is worth $50 on the used market.

You can always sell this 2 years from now for what you paid for it or more.

This is a deal for a solid guitar. The quality and resale value make it great buy.

I've bought those Mono strats. Anyone who says they're on par with a MIM is full of shit. They're on par with a Squier Bullet at best. We get it, you're broke. Nothing wrong with that. But to try to preach this nonsense is absurd.

So, it's American to pay $529 from Mexico; but not $56 from China; and where Squires are now made?
Peace

I'm going to have fun for a minute here and look at Fender pickguards:

Here's one from a Player Plus HSS:

and here's one from an American Ultra SSS:

The modular pickguard connector thing is cool af and I want that. But ya know, xaviere makes pickups for their $300 guitars that have minijack connectors lol. It's not a totally unheard of concept.

I'd like to find one of an Indio or an Indio DLX for comparison's sake. I mean, there's also the wood types, number of pieces of wood used, perhaps the construction of the neck.. idk...

I wonder how the indio /ebay guitars are built in terms of wood. Like what kinda wood do they use? How many pieces? How come they still look so good for $60 when warmoth wants a few hundred lol. I mean, if I went to a random carpenter and asked them to make me a stratocaster body it'd probably cost a couple hundred at least.

back on topic though: I think that when judging guitars I'd rather just throw everything else out the window and be like. Ok I'm in a guitar store picking up things and looking at them. Do I find them pretty? Do I like how they feel? great!

(Can do that with the $60 guitar with minimal risk since it's just $60. The return shipping would cost more lol)

The no risk $60 challenge. Only YOU are your own guitar judge.
Preach brother!

I posted earlier about how well designed the Mono Strats are. I was not saying people should not get the Fender. I just thought it was weird that some rando starts crapping all over Mono guitars. And then more weirdos upvote this guy. Fender fan boys???

I have been playing guitar daily for 40 years. I have 3 Monos. I have not changed any hardware out of need. 2 are totally stock. I have several Gibsons, Fenders, etc. I play the Monos all day long. They are fine guitars for many players. I have thought about selling all my high end guitars, I never play them.

I also said the Fender looks very nice. One of the main things about a guitar is if it inspires you to play. This guitar will do that for many people. And the price is great. Go for it people!

I just didn't understand the need for someone to crap all over a mono cali when it is 1/10 the cost of a Fender and is 80-90% the guitar.

There's a lake placid blue squier affinity that looks just like this one, except with a black pickguard (and pickup covers and knobs). This fender has a better looking headstock, but the squier looks better because it has a black pickguard. xD

Sometimes you can get those for $150. Almost certainly for black friday. If you're only after the look, I'd just get that. It also has a satin neck. lol.

I have two of the Mono DLX strats (one maple and one rosewood) and also have had one of the Adorama Players Buttercream and the American Professional II Dark Night Strat.. I still have the two Monoprice Dlx strats but returned both of the Fenders to Adorama. The Player guitar was very similar sounding to the Mono DLX and the workmanship was not any better. The Wilkinson hardware on the Mono DLX guitars appeared to be on par with what the Fender Player had. Since the Player was like 5 times the cost it made no sense to keep it as the Player also needed some fret work. The Amercan Professional II would have needed to be shimmed right out of the box in order to get the action low enough. Even with the saddles flat against the bridge it was around 8/64's on the low E side and the neck was straight. It also had multiple filing marks on the bouts that were painted over without sanding and very obvious showing through the finish.

I also have one of the Mono Cali classics I got for $50 after coupon. It had a fair amount of fret sprout and the ceramic pickups were pretty thin sounding. I finished off the frets and dropped in some Fender Vintera '60s Modified pups and it sounds wonderful. The neck is a bit thinner whan what's on the Mono DLX's so I end up playing the Cali Classic the most.

Forgot to mention that the tuners on the Mono Cali Classic are pretty low end but they work. Will likely swap those out at some point.

No one said they were on par with a MIM. I said they are designed better than every Fender out there. The body material, pickups, and controls are probably not up to MIM standards for sure.

My point is the 2nd post on here where the guy is trashing Mono guitars with no evidence what so ever. And then drooling monkeys are up-voting his post.

If a person was looking for a cheap starter guitar, they may end up buying this guitar which is way over priced for their needs.

I am a veteran player and do fine with Monos with no setup out of the box.

I gave them to my kid and felt bad but not so bad as I know he probably won't play it yet anyway lol.

I've got a ton of guitars right now, probably 24. I've got 3 MIK Squier and several CV Squier (also that kickass Jazzmaster XII) so I'm not too much of a snob. My newest is an American Ultra HSS which i think is absolutely perfect but not worth triple the price of a MIM. I just really wanted one and plan on keeping for life.

But I thought the Mono ones sucked. Same fret spout and bad pickups. I do have a set of those same Vintera pickups laying around (thanks, Slickdeals) that i'll eventually put in something.

I have the CV Mustang and the Squier 40th Anniv Strat (which is very similar to the CV's). They are excellent guitars and with recent sales they are a true value in comparison to the actual Fender lines. Great workmanship and the stock pickups have the "Fender" tone.
