no that's not true. the indonesian made deluxe squiers are an excellent choice. in years past have been equal or better than the MIM, but I don't believe that's the case now, bc fender decided to up the price on MIM but also upgrade the quality beyond what it had been in the past. beast fender for the money is either squier dlxe or fender player's it's hard to say these days
I was intentionally not talking about Squiers. The average value proposition of a Squier is much better. Most people looking for a Fender guitar want Fender on the headstock. If that's not a requirement, there's oodles of guitars that are a better value proposition.

I think all the talk about wanting a fender logo on the headstock may just be a little bit played out. There are reasons to want a Fender other than the name on the headstock.

For example, colors, neck options, pickup options, other body style tweaks like contours and neck joints.

Let's get real here: If you're ok with brown burst, you can have your pick of awesome guitars from $68 to $6800 and everywhere in between. I personally can't stand brown burst. I'm the fool willing to pay extra for something that gets me excited lol. Wave

Luckily, cheap flashy guitars? PRS SE all day. All day. lol.

I imagine they do that on purpose though. The best deals are always unattractive colors.

Not sure I'd spend ~550-600 for an instrument Im not sure I'll stick with or even enjoy playing. 200-250 is probably a better bet for 'beginners'

Just received mine. It has a pretty bad dent/crack on the back I originally was going to order a replacement, but they wait till they receive the package, then do an inspection, then ship a replacement. I didn't want to wait too long so instead I just made a second order and will return the first one for a refund.
the first one i got was had issues and i did an exchange and got a new one in about a week, adorama is pretty good

issue with the first one was the nut was cut too low, and other QA issues such as a 'bulging' pick guard. replacement was perfect though Smilie

Bought an expensive EVH 5150 for a great price from them. It was delivered quickly and without any flaws. Highly recommend seller.

My son just asked for an electric guitar for Christmas, this seems like a nice one. Will he need anything else to get started? Sorry I have no idea about these things.

A small starter amp like this will work too, and a 1/4" guitar cable maybe 5'-10' long.

A $20 Guitar Stand, strap, picks and as a previous post said an Amp and Cable. His recommendation is spot on.

This is a great deal on a guitar that holds ok value if you want to sell down the road. Requires not much tweaking. As an electrical engineer, I bought the $60 Mono strat and the $60 Fender Vintera pickups on Slickdeals and I am happy. I already have a soldering iron, fret files, and have a few basic guitar tools. So my experience is different because I am serious about guitars and know how to do electrical work. The average person would probably be better served with a guitar that probably only needs a truss rod tweak and start playing. I will say that the $60 Mono Strat for some reason feels heavier than other strats but I'm okay with that because I play acoustic more often.
