I own the LG variant. 38" is really the sweet spot for multimedia and productivity. That extra vertical height is quite nice.

If I had to choose again today, I would still choose a 38" IPS over a 34" OLED. Hoping for the day where they come out with a 38" OLED.

Akshually, QDOLED is FAR more susceptible to burn in than WOLED... Ask me how I know and why I no longer have one, after selling my 3rd replacement. Rtings burn in tests also confirmed this.

I agree, this form factor is the best balance of physical size and resolution. I got tired of waiting for an OLED in this size and bought a 42" C2 a few months ago. No regrets, but had I known LG was planning on releasing a 39", I would have waited.

I don't think they've released resolution info yet but I assume it will be ~3840x1600. If it ends up being 1440p, then that would be a huge waste and a missed opportunity.

I actually have a 42" C2 as well, lol. I use it only for multimedia purposes though - I'm still wary of burn in, especially for a display that isn't originally designed to be a monitor.

Cool to know about the 39"! Excited to see what the actual specs will be.

This curve seems super weak otherwise I like the specs. After viewing a bunch of monitors in store it seems like 1000R is the way to go imo to get the immersive effect.

No, YOU are wrong. While it is only VESA certified as DisplayHDR 400 True Black, there is also an HDR 1000 mode which actually hits that mark and after the June firmware update it has accurate EOTF tracking all the way to 1000 nits. Anyone who reads the reviews knows it can do HDR 1000.

As for your spreading the usual FUD about OLED ("ZOMG! Teh burnz-in!"), the 3-year warranty covers burn-in AND QD-OLED isn't as susceptible as WOLED tech. As far as "babying" them as long as you don't go MAX BRIGHTNESS with static elements for days on end, you shouldn't have a problem.

The benefits of infinite contrast and no blurring more than make up for the cost and need to practice basic common sense.

It's absolutely killer for gaming and entertainment consumption. While some people have reported fringing on text due to the different layout of the pixels for QD-OLED, I ran ClearType and haven't noticed any problems, but that's not to say your mileage may not vary.
