On the surface looks like a smoking deal if one has it available in their area. But it appears there is 8GB RAM soldered with a single RAM slot that support up to 16GB for a max total of 24GB RAM. That may be a turn off for some. Reviews have complains of heat, fan noise and poor battery life.

Edit to add: Apparently this also has a second M.2 slot (on the right side) so that will be a big plus for some.

From QAs some people added extra 32gb RAM and confirmed that it works just fine with total 40GB.

I'd agree if you are game focused, but this is a media/content focused computer, so the heavier duty processor will likely be utilized by someone buying it for that purpose.

That, and I doubt you can get a discrete GPU and high end processor for anything close to this price for an OLED laptop

How good or bad is a 3050 with a 45 watt tdp?
Even worth considering as a gamer?

Holy crap this seems like an amazing deal for everybody but gamers. If you do media on PC (as opposed to Mac) this is a killer rig at this price. Soup to nuts.

Would this be a good laptop for video editing and 2 portable monitors? Also, my current laptop's RAM is 32GB (DDR 4) but I see this can only be upgraded to 24GB. Would this make much of a difference?

LOL, order yesterday at $774.99 and haven't get around to pick up yet and price dropped so cancel and reorder. Very worry about ASUS's quality though on the lower range products

i9 just seems very unnecessary for such a machine.

What do you mean specifically about it not being good for gamers? Thanks in advance.

PCI 3.0 nvme??? Not 4.0??? No wifi 6E? Decent CPU, weak GPU... 60%+ slower than a 3060.. which is now considered slow... .. "creator" , heh. Good looking screen in person. Lotta heat related negative comments. The G14 6900hs w/ 6700s gpu seems better deal for same or $50 more if at your store.

The 3050 45w is pretty low wattage for a GPU when you intend to game. The 6GB variant of the 3050 also has a nerfed memory bus of 96-bit compared to the regular 128-bit 3050.

BF is 2 months away. Will there be better deals then?
I will give you props for giving the accurate timeline for Black Friday. So often (saw this 2-3 days ago) on Slick Deals people love to say "BF is only a couple of weeks away." Oddly they start chatting this around Easter Wink

Would this laptop be able to drive a 4k monitor w/o issues (since it has a video adapter)?

Thanks for pointing that out. I was on the checkout screen when I read your comment. I been looking for at least a 4050 but thought I would take the gamble at this 3050 / i9 however the low wattage on the GPU is a deal breaker for me.

Still a great deal overall.
