Fridges will work without water connection.
They're all crap now. The changes they made to remove Freon to save the environment, along with cheaper materials, cost-cutting measures, and more electronics and bells and whistles mean that refrigerators are now disposable appliances only meant to let 2-7 years before being replaced.

Wait a few more years and the wires that come up from the bottom of the refrigerator into the freezer door will eventually break and your ice maker and dispenser will quit working.
I had to remove both of my sliding patio doors to get my refrigerator into my kitchen so I didn't have to remove the refrigerator doors.

We previously had a Whirlpool Gold side by side that was far superior and lasted decades.

1. When the Ice system did work, the ice would constantly freeze stuck together and jam, would have to dump it all out and start over. The seal to dispense ice isn't good and lets in humidity. There is rust on the metal.
2. After a couple of years the ice system stopped working. Its because there is a wire harness in the door frame and it pulls on the wires and rubs on them every time you open the door. Eventually they just break and electronics stop working. I re-soldered them together and they eventually broke again. Now I use ice trays. This issue is all over youtube for repairs
3. The motor is very loud so being next to the living room is awful. The motor is always running. My old kenmore was quiet and didn't run this much at all.
4. The freezer fan has locked up with ice build up a few times so ive had to empty the freezer to clean it off.
5. The door shelves are very thin plastic, one broke, i would avoid putting heavier things like milk and orange juice on the door. I epoxy repaired it because replacements are like $80
6 Freezer didnt come with enough shelves but the pictures looks like there are more than i have so maybe this has been resolved.
All that being said I would probably still buy a whirlpool over a samsung or lg. But i would probably try to find something with no water/ice dispensers.
