Also people complaining about VRR have no idea how it actually works (not accusing you or anything just a general observation I'm seeing).
VRR is useful for syncing your FPS and Hz, preventing screen tearing and saving a bit of energy. However, it's not a necessity. Even without VRR, a high Hz display, like 144Hz, still offers a fast and smooth visual experience, showing new frames quickly. Pro gamers sometimes skip VRR to get info on the screen faster. Also, there's no need for a perfect match between FPS and Hz; a high Hz display will show frames fast, regardless. While VRR can be a nice to have, it's not essential, especially for handheld devices with high Hz screens.

It depends on how much you value the display, battery life and portability. The display on this is far superior, but it's also a behemoth of a device and because steamOS provides granular control of frequencies, TDP and frame rate you can stretch the deck's battery in a way that most likely isn't going to be possible on this thing.

Is this an issue with Lenovo? I know dell charges on ship date, not sure about how Lenovo charges
No VRR, not really superior except in resolution.
