Although the Best Buy product listing reads "Save up to $1,140.00 when you trade in a similar device [archive.ph]" (screenshot [archive.org]), there is currently no trade-in value that high. When I collected the data from all 2816 eligible trade-in SKUs, the highest trade-in value was $950.00.

So? Pretend an 8 pro isn't substantially better than a 13 pro now, let alone 2-3 years in the future. Also, argument is irrelevant -- real price with trade in deals isn't comparable to a modern iPhone.

I can buy a used iPhone 12 Pro Max for $175. The screen is fine, it's unlocked, but it's advertised as blacklisted.

If I traded it in in-person at the store, would it be accepted?

I'm also running into this error message because the TIV is more than the price of the Pixel 8:

"Heads up! We're not able to continue with this trade-in because it has a higher value than the one you're buying. Please choose a different device to trade in or buy."

No blacklisted phones are not accepted for trade in.

as someone who has a pixel 7 ill just wait until the new phone craze wears off and google starts offering sweeter deals for a pixel 7 trade in to get a pixel 8. think upgrade to pixel 7 from pixel 6 for $20. it may or may not happen this time around. if it doesnt, oh well. im fine keeping the 7

Heres my scenario

I want to trade an ip12pro for p8pro, My son is using the ip12pro right now and waiting for the 15pro to arrive (15th-30th oct) let say its arriving on the 15th.

I can preorder now and and pickup the p8pro when the 15pro arrived and then trade the 12pro. Bestbuy will hold my pre-order for 5 day right?

You have 5 days to pick up the order but you can extend the date up to 2 weeks from the pickup date. I did that with the previous Pixel 7 preorder.
