my wife loves Lexus (friend has RX350) way more than she loves me. After I got my model Y, she went for a model 3 and fell in love with it. no more Lexus for her. Keep your Lexus if soft/cushion drive is your top priority as Tesla Y/3 rides is more rough. Otherwise, Model Y all the way! Too many good things to list, and too much misinformation, but here are some positive things, in order of my own ranking:

#1 Safety is off the hook (frontal crash with Van, van driver died, model 3 driver walked out since no front engine. search you tube. or that depressed doctor who drove his family flying then rolling down a cliff in the model Y smashed to oblivion but everyone's got minor injury)
#2 Sporty drive and so fast. changing lane, merging into freeway, or just speed up at yellow light, makes it a lot safer and faster to get around in general. you have to own it to really know what I mean.
#3 save on gas and no hassle going to the pump, plug in at home like your phone
#4 Autopilot! relaxed driving on freeway. priceless for commuting.
#5 1 pedal driving! no need to brake at red light. also huge screen for backup/left/right camera. see everything!
#6 low maintenance, just the tires. oh, and no more keys or having to lock doors! or remotely venting/heating/cooling/defrost.

the cons are: rough ride, noisy, tire wear, and low battery if you go longer distance than 3 hours. all I can think of.

Had to drive a gas car in Hawaii on our vacation and I hated it so much. no more gas car for us. at these prices, Y/3 is a no brainer to me if you need a new car.
You hit on the nail with all the points. I have a model y and my wife loves it so much she bought herself a model 3. Only thing I had a bad experience was when I had flat tire on a long distance drive and it was at night. So I had to uber another 100 miles to get to my destination and uber come back and pick up my car at the repair. It cost me $400 just to change out the tire at tesla. Also my window had a glitch and rolled down after I park. Car was broken into but luckily nothing stolen or damaged.

Other than that I love the car still. Once you drive a tesla you dont go back.

Do you know the explanation for why insurance gouges tesla owners? Mine cost went up 50% with perfect driving record coming from a Honda. Teslas are rated top for safety and you can't steal them. Doesn't make sense to me
Repair costs. Tesla still cost a fortune to repair

Then you're severely neglecting your car. You should probably replace brake pads, rotors, battery, and tires.
There is a difference between "repairs" and "maintenance". He said he only had one repair, which doesn't mean he was neglecting the items you mentioned.

Are Teslas built that bad? I'm considering an electric car.
Absolutely not. They are great cars and is a reason why they are selling close to 1.8 million per year and rising. In many countries it is the #1 selling BEV. This tread on SlickDeals is sadly full of Tesla Trolls and Elon Haters. There are several other sites on the internet to get extensive and unbiased information.

A fully loaded Bolt EUV Premier offers a more comfortable package for much less (under $30k post-rebate, which puts it almost $10k less than the Y). Supercruise is a must-have for highway driving.

The one major downside for the Bolt is the lack of true rapid charging, which can make longer roadtrips more of a hassle (but still doable).
Well. Fully loaded EUV is not AWD, so only can compare to MY RWD which around $44k or less.
I rather have FWD than RWD.
But in case compare fully loaded EUV to MY RWD. That is around 8k cheaper.

I would not get fully loaded EUV
- sun roof which is standard with Tesla
- Super cruise (autopilot is better with Tesla)
- Vegan leather seat (standard with Tesla)

I would get myseld EUV LT that is all which should be under $30k.. EV technology will have major breakthru every 3-5 years.

Bolt charging from 0-80% can take 45 - 60 minutes
Tesla can be 15 - 25 minutes if you doing long trip

I understand that, the person (not why you're assuming "he"), was referring to a total "repair" cost in an article that included new tires and other maintenance items. Thus I was correcting them to compare apples to apples. I'm sure they spent close to the same amount in maintenance costs and don't realize it.

this or bolt euv?
If you do lots of road trips , or longer trips with 4 plus people the model y. If you think you will be impatient with charging model y. If you are mostly going to charge at home and are willing to plan out long trips by chargers the bolt euv is an amazing deal. Bolt only charges at 50kw max this charges at 200kw+ and has Tesla supercharger network.

The AWD and range increase makes this a decently easy choice now, frankly these cars last forever, teslas ability to make the car an appliance means youll likely keep it in your family for years upon years, youll either give it to your parents, sister, kid, etc after 8 years. $4500 over 8 years is only extra $562. Its almost "regret insurance" at that point, if every year you get into a situation where you wish you had awd and slightly more range than youll kick yourself for not having gotten this. (I also think the LR has subwoofers and rwd doesnt... but someone would have to confirm that for me)
You have no clue what you're talking about

Interior noise? I don't know why my shitty model 3 makes so much interior noise.

However, the car is so much bette than the garbage BMW x4 because everything is automated. The shitty BMW still need the stupid key for unlock and lock.
Imagine that. A lock that requires a key. Crazy.

How can you say a car that's only been available for four years last forever? Have you heard of battery degradation. In 10 years from now your batter range will be closer 200 miles if it still works. On top of this you aren't exempt from bearing replacement, tie rods, control arms and bushings. We have no idea how long these will cars will last.
The more cars are electronic and less mechanical, the less durable they will be compared to their mechanical counterparts (at least Toyota). Capacitors, power supplies and ssd memory has limited lifespan. They are making future cars far more disposable than than cars of the past. Even with gas savings, lifetime cost of ownership is questionable in value compared to a mechanical versioned Toyota. Also with climate change and record heat waves, regions with long duration heat and humidity will no doubt degrade these electronic cars and their batteries far more than what you think. These cars may have the best lifespan in California with it's temperate weather, but in all other regions, expect it to be worse.
