Also insurance will go up almost $80 a month for the Tesla.
This type of discussion, realistic talk, or even debate is pretty interesting to me. None of the "maybe in 30 years" or "EVs have no downsides" polar opposites. Good luck with your commutes!
Especially since Model Y is the best selling SUV in the world which suggests the buying public does not agree with you.
I do have electricity there though, so it's vastly easier and more convenient than fueling a gas car is. A lot less time inhaling carcinogens weekly too.
Again, the majority of Americans can already charge at home NOW, and there's Tesla superchargers all over the place for road trips. And billions of dollars are going into even more chargers going up in the next few years.
Nobody, which is why Tesla has superchargers that you only need to stop at for a fraction of that actual time.
Actual EV owners keep telling you how nonsensical your made up number is but you keep repeating it anyway.
Why?

Pretty decent search site there--- for example of the 192 inventory Model 3s in the US right now there's a single one at $36,220.
There's some more in the low 38k range but they've all got 1500-2000 miles on em so they're likely demo cars and they mark them down slightly for having miles on em.
For Model Y similar story, just a couple hundred nationwide in inventory and cheapest is $47,130 for a demo car with 1133 miles on it, then some more demos around 48k or so.
Inventory changes all the time though.
This year I've paid $25,000 in taxes. I may or may not owe anything to the IRS at the end of the year. Does this mean I've qualified and I should not have to pay back the tax credit?
What you had deducted from paychecks is irrelevant. What your potential refund is is irrelevant.
You need $7500 in tax burden. Look at line 18 on your 1040.
That's for this year.
As of Jan 1 that no longer matters and you only need to worry about if you're below the max income cap or not..... THAT said, for at least some EVs the credit might drop to $3750 on Jan 1 so if you have enough tax burden now, and plan to buy soon anyway, you probably won't want to wait till Jan 1 and risk losing half the credit.

Is your income significantly different this year than last? If not (or if it's simply higher) check line 18 on your 2022 1040...if it's at least $7500 you should be good unless you're in a really weird tax situation where you have a large # of 2023-only non-refundable credits-- that's usually a weird enough situation you'd know you had them.
If your income is much LOWER this year then it's potentially tougher to tell... but broadly speaking you should have a $7500 tax burden if you earn (after standard or itemized deduction) roughly 54k single or 69k married filing jointly.

Holy crap!!!! The $65000 RZ450e AWD with 20" wheels only does 172 miles on the highway. EPA range says 196mi. Meanwhile the $48500 ($50500) model Y AWD with 20" wheels does 286 miles (EPA range estimate is 279 miles. BEATS EPA). Not a single tech blog will write an article about how this is highway robbery (pun intended as this is literal
Someone please tell me if I should buy a Tesla or continue using rental car as long as possible?
But the fanboys justifying 1 hour charge time with excuses like I need to pee any way, need fresh air, bla bla nonsense is nauseating.. These folks are diahonest in their personal life
I'm more interested in hydrogen cars, like the Hyperion XP-1-
"The Hyperion XP-1 will be able to drive for up to 1,000 miles on one tank of compressed hydrogen gas and its electric motors will generate more than 1,000 horsepower, according to the company. The all-wheel-drive car can go from zero to 60 miles per hour in a little over two seconds, the company said."

No heavy batteries to charge or weigh you down. 1,000 miles between fill ups is pretty amazing too.
