They are closing out this older version. I got the newer version from aliexpress for $38, $13 more. WX242. The newer version has a mechanical clutch, goes from .4 Nm to 5 Nm. Much more sensitive to avoid stripping screws. Still too much torque for delicate electronics. For those I have another screwdriver that goes from .05Nm to .5 Nm. .05 Nm is about right for laptops, phones, etc. I would recommend spending $13 more and getting the newer one. In case you didnt know, Worx is a Chinese brand.
I think they're just informing everyone that it's a Chinese brand so people aren't as worried about receiving a knock off product from AliExpress. I would be skeptical purchasing a Milwaukee branded item from AliExpress since it's an "American" brand (made in China) but since Worx is Chinese, I'd have fewer reservations ordering it from there. Much like ordering Aqara sensors on AliExpress.
Because you don't really understand the manufacturing and engineering process. But, OK, buy whatever you want. You do not understand that there are different levels of engineering and even quality control, depending on the brand.

I buy cheap Chinese products all the time, nothing's wrong with it. But if you think iPhone, for example, is Chinese because it's assembled there, you are just not very knowledgeable.

Everything is Chinese. Why would that even matter? All of your American brands are not American. They are made with Chinese products. I have no issues who made what or where anything comes from.

Thank you. That is correct. I was hesitant at first purchasing a worx from aliexpress until I googled worx and discovered that they are a chinese brand. So it made sense that worx would first release a new product in China before it was available here, so that reduced my concern that it would be a counterfeit/knockoff.

The WX240L at Sam's (same version as this lowes hot deal) was only $20 and well worth the money. For what these will typically be used for, spending even $10 more for similar is $10 too much. Spend $18 more?

That's absolutely accurate. I bought the same WX242 model. It easily handles all my PC build tasks. The battery life is more impressive than I anticipated. I use it for 90 minutes every day, and it lasts an entire week. Additionally, it has adjustable torque. I typically use levels 1-3, but the maximum level is so potent that I believe it's comparable to the Milwaukee M12 impact driver's second level, if not more so.

It's manufactured in China, but it's not just another "Made in China" product.

I learned the hard way, sometimes it is worth a few more bucks. In this case, one stripped screw and you will wish you spent the extra $. A mechanical clutch on a screwdriver is a necessity for me.
