Damn. I bought it at $1700 a month or two back. Granted that's still a good price, but not as slick as this.

I have to say though, this is a solid unit. Supports all the good stuff like 4K@120Hz, all of the inputs are 8K@60Hz, supports up to four subs in case you want to knock your house off its foundations, ALLM, QMS are supported on all inputs... and I have to say, I have been very impressed with the Auro-3D upmixer. Literally for the first time, I can actually tell my upfiring Atmos speakers are doing something, and you definitely notice the difference between Auro-3D and the Dolby and DTS upmix modes. I have a pretty crap room layout and the Audyssey room correction did an impressive job. Not sure if it's the 4800 or the new sub I got at the same time, or maybe a little of both, but the vocal track on everything is so much easier to hear now. I don't have to set the center channel reference volume to 4-5dB higher than everything else just to be able to make out what people are saying and I can hear little nuances in videos that I was missing before.

Only real downsides I can think of have nothing to do with the audio quality. The remote still sucks just as hard as any other remote from Denon over the past several years. If anyone has figured out how to use Alexa or Google Home to change to Game 1 or Game 2 inputs, please tell me because I cannot figure it out for the life of me--other inputs work just fine, only those two don't work. The setup UI is only a mild refinement from my old 2200W and is still pretty clunky.
Great price, I bet most people picked up the X3800H for $1,000.
Receivers literally go on sale every fall (with the exception of COVID/supply chain years).

For about 15 years straight, Denon receivers would go at least 50% off at Fry's (RIP).

Bought this the other day and loving it so far... But have spent $1,500 in new speakers too Frown moved my Atmos speakers to the ceiling (4 new speakers), added 2 rooms for zones 2 & 3 of speakers (4 more)... And now about to install 2 more speakers to go from 5 to 7 main speakers in the cinema. The speaker wiring has and continues to be a nightmare... But we'll worth it, this amount is a huge upgrade from my 6 year old Sony.

Sadly for me receiver is not connecting to internet. My previous Denon 5.1 and 7.2 never faced any such issues. They are ok for full refund or a replacement. I am confused should I go for refund or replace.

If I ask for a replacement and it also didn't work then can be an issue. Any suggestions?

Plug the receiver directly into your modem, bypassing the router.

What would be the most noticeable benefit of this over the Denon s760h? I know it allows for two additional subs and speakers, and has nearly twice the watt per channel. Would I notice the difference in w per channel running Klipsch Reference premiere speakers? Any other major improvements I would notice?

The room correction is vastly superior. Presumably has much better DAC's too. Bigger power supply. Just going to sound better and more dynamic overall compared to an entry level receiver.

There are significant feature differences.

As far as driving your RP's this will drive them much easier which should give an audible benefit.
Room correction should be another benefit. Some find the option to Dirac Live RC is a big benefit also.
That is an extra cost BTW($349).

Here is a comparison to see the differences.

If you feel that it's worth the upgrade.
Another option would be the x3800h.
It has dropped to $1k which would save you $400.
You lose very little compared to the 4800 especially with the RP line.

This might not be an issue for most, but make sure you have the latest HDMI cables for this AVR. I have Monoprice Certified Premium HDMI Cables routed in my wall (4K@60HZ, HDR, CEC, 21:9 18Gbps, 10 Feet), and though they worked perfectly before switching to this receiver from my older Denon (Dolby Vision, 4K HDR, etc.), they now drop out even on YouTube streams from my NVIDIA Shield on this AVR.

Again, no big deal if your HDMI cables aren't difficult to replace, but a consideration if they are. Oddly enough, routing the Shield through the TV to the AVR via eARC works just fine.

Significant feature differences, are they worth it for the price to you.

I might have the answer for this question cuz I have both. Just placed the order for 4800 this Friday, shows would be delivered on Wednesday. But it will take a while as I'm still waiting for the key of my new place.

If you are happy with the 3700 you do not need this.
Very unlikely you will hear a $1400 difference.

As a matter of fact the people that go by measurements will tell you the 3700 measures better than this!
