I'm starting to believe this is a persistent rumor rather than reality. I return stuff quite often but also buy quite often. They have made getting returns more difficult (food items) but that's just dark patterns in their UI in order to get support. Once I reach the chatbot or human, never have had to apply any extra pressure than usual.
