When you're tailgating or having a picnic in a park you can't "just dig a shallow hole" for a deadman anchor.

Do they cost less than $1.88?

I've camped a lot on beaches and sand. One really easy way to anchor a tent is by doing a deadman anchor. You just dig a shallow hole. Grab a stick (or plastic tent stake) or a rock. Tie the tent guy wire around it, and then bury it perpendicularly. It's simpler and stronger anchorage than a sand bag.

I'm sure there are other purposes that I'm not thinking about for the sand bag, but you don't need this for beach camping. You'd be better off with a small shovel that can help recover your vehicle if you get stuck in sand.

Shipping kills this. Would be happy to pick up from the store but not available.

Like I said, I'm sure there are other reasons, but in a sand environment, deadman anchors usually work well.

For a picnic in the park, you just use stakes.

I get it. Sorry. I guess wait until you nneed $35+ worth of stuff? Seems like Walmart sells quite a few items that aren't available for store pickup.

So you are going to carry 80 pounds of water with you all the time? Or even if you have access to water you'll also need to carry bulky empty jugs that are easily damaged thus leaking? Now, you could use some old t-shirts or pants tied at the ends to use as free sandbags.

The police didn't think it was too funny the last time I used a dead man as an anchor.

...all jokes aside that is a very good suggestion.

I think that you are probably creating more of an obstacle in your mind than necessary.

Walmart does free shipping and grocery pickup at $35. Add your 4 sand bags to the cart. Now you are at $30. Add a gallon of milk and a pack of Magnum condoms for your boyfriend. Now you get free pickup on your milk and prophylactics, and you get free shipping to your house.

that's funny; i feel like 98 of the last 100 times i've seen an ez up was on pavement. i see these canvas bag anchors all the time for festivals, fairs and tailgating but yes.... i suppose for the "sand ez up scenario" the buried stick is better

Maybe you aren't thinking enough before posting.

It's 4 bags for $7.50 not 1 bag for $7.50.

I don't need 16 bags.

This reminds me of the South Park Wall-mart episode

"Dude check it out Timecop on DVD 3 copies for 18 bucks!"

"why would you want 3 copies of the same movie?"

"cause 1 copy is normally $9.99!"

"wait a second I don't even want one copy of Timecop"

Far too many times have I caught myself doing that! I was actually thinking about ordering up a few sets of these up to free shipping for some signage tie downs or the like though!

Maybe you aren't thinking enough and could just get more milk or Magnum condoms for your boyfriend. Maybe there's even other groceries that exist that could total up to $35 if you'd just think a little bit before posting about it.

I get it now. This is your go to reply for anyone that posts "shipping kills the deal". Well, why not just buy more stuff to save a few $$ and get free shipping.

So glad to have you as part of the community.
