FOR PEOPLE FLYING OUT OF PHOENIX:

I found a lot of flights out of Phoenix to various destinations, like Los Angeles, for $29 each way. That's a pretty sick deal for round trip of $58 + tax.

Flying to San Diego was $39 each way, but only on Tue/Wed flights, which is awkward.

Phoenix to Vegas was like $39 each way, which isn't bad, but pretty normal to get $99/round trip tickets from Phoenix to Vegas, so not exactly amazing.

Phoenix to Burbank, CA was $29 each way. This is actually a REALLY good price for Burbank. The reason you may want to consider this is this is where you would fly in if you were going to to go to Universal Studios. Planning a trip for the family? Snag up this deal! Much better than going to Disney these days given how expensive Disney has gotten, and I can attest that Universal Studios has really stepped up on their attractions. They also have Harry Potter world there, and my kids absolutely loved that.

Phoenix to Salt Lake was not amazing at $59/each way, and since this is the winter, not really best time to go. You can also fly Allegiant Mesa to Provo for like $89 round trip ALL the time, without needing to go to the awkward Mon-Wed flights to get best deals. Ya, if you are taking bags, probably not worth it, but if you are going for a few days for whatever reason, Allegiant is just fine for a 90 minute flight to Utah lol.

I tried to fly further out, like Phoenix to Orlando, or even to a large airport like Dallas and was not finding any great prices.

One thing that did surprise me a little was Phoenix to Bellingham, Canada (about 50 miles from Vancouver), there were a LOT of flights for $125 each way. For people thinking of doing an Alaskan cruise, of which many port out of Vancouver, $250 is really not bad for round trip there. I have done several cruises, and while I usually fly Delta direct to Vancouver, I have done the Southwest to save funds when I was dragging my 3 kids, as it only cost me like $80 for Lyft from Bellingham to Vancouver, and $80 back for all of us, when it was gonna be like $250 extra for all my bags on Delta, each way. Maybe I am just cheap lol

Seattle had decent one-way out of Phoenix for like $69/each way, which is also a city where you often embark out of for an Alaskan Cruise, so keep that in mind too if planning.

Flying from Tucson NOTHING was a good price...

This is one of SW's actual sales. Use the desktop site as SW's mobile and app aren't as friendly when it comes to finding deals. In addition to the very few $29 fares, there are quite a few $39-79 fares as well. As per usual, origination/destinations are limited, dates/times are limited (it's literally in the title), etc. so on and so forth. Search your origination here (hopefully link works), then use the low fare calendar:

I don't see anything below $89 each way on SW.

FWIW, a quick google flights search shows Frontier can be had for $78 RT and up in November. Not that I would recommend them, but if saving money is your #1 goal, as long as you can handle their limitations and can get away with a personal item, there you go.

Dear god, not even close. Frontier you can't modify your flights and the planes are terrible. Do not fly them.

True. I have never found any deal from SW so called deals. I think its mostly for those airport locations where the usual/average traffic is lower and not the busiest.

RIP to ATL that airport is a maze takes forever just to get to the gate
A maze? What other busiest airport is easier to navigate?

The deals are seasonal, and for routes that typically don't see as much traffic during that season.

And/or, flights that are <1 hour.

For example, out of ATL:
Greenville SC (30 minute flight)
Jackson MS (45 minute flight)
Jacksonville, FL (50 minute flight)

Those are off the top of my head $29 each way.

$39 each way are Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, Little Rock and I think Nashville.

Not even close to what? Being similar? Of course not. Other than using jets and pilots, they're entirely different models.

Bellingham, WA. It is about 50 miles away from Vancouver, BC, but you have to cross the border.

Usually, I couldn't find any from my airport with SW either. But what I do is going to Google Flight and search for what you want, usually I receive the best price there. Of course, it is not South West but all what we want is just flying from A to B for cheapest price Big Grin

I think the cheap fares only apply to flights from Bismarck to Pierre and El Paso to Amarillo.

I've been through every large airport in America multiple times and I think I dislike Atlanta more then most. I think DFW is one of my preferred airports for connections as far as ease of navigation.

I don't see many preferred destinations in that list. But then I'm not basing it as a comparison to Atlanta. I'm sure my opinion would change if I lived in that city.

Differences of opinion. The layout of DFW makes connections and figuring out how to get to your gate a nightmare. ATL is just one for domestic, one for international, but they're connected. And each concourse is a 5 minute walk or a 2 minute train. It's incredibly easy.
