Been thinking about getting the Epiphone SG modern for months. This is the first discount on it I've ever seen. Any opinions on the quality of the guitars that say they ship from a Sam Ash store?

It can be all over the place when you're getting it from a store. Sometimes you get something that's brand new in box and sometimes you get one off the wall that's been played.

If you want a new one you can probably call Sweetwater and ask them to match the 15% from Sam Ash. Sweetwater will typically do 10-15% on any order just by asking.

What Arcoril said! At Sweetwater you can also pick the exact guitar serial number that you want based on the photos and exact weight (if they have them in stock). If they will take 10-15% off the price, then to me it is a no-brainer. They offer 2 year warranty on everything as well.

All good, turns out it's not that easy to get a free $50 certificate going by the other responses here. It sounds like they canceled most (if not all) of the DGT backorders people placed.

Bit of a bummer, but I figured it could happen. The DGT's the only SE model that isn't overstocked due to all the fervor around it. Best guitar under $1000 and all that.

Thinking of that - all those who placed their orders for other products which are backordered and used the coupon might get their orders cancelled too!

Since they did not send you a cancellation email, it might be a good idea to check the order status periodically.

If you really want that guitar & it is OOS it is better to pricematch it with another store which has the stock.

Canceled and refunded on my card. No GC, no email, no confirmation of refund. I tried. Would have been nice to at least get an email confirming the refund.

Sam Ash has honored stacking discounts on other stuff I've bought from them, but the DGT likely was a genuine pricing error even at $719.20 since we know PRS sanctioned the sale [prsguitars.com] on all the other SE models except that one.

In regards to price matching, it's worth a try but YMMV since this is close to something of an exploit. If your rep sees no problem with it then sure, but I've talked to MF agents before who told me they don't honor coupon discounts. One rep even told me they don't honor in-cart discounts, which was ridiculous... but yeah. The MF rep I keep in touch with right now is really chill and will honor a bunch of stuff but it did take some time to find her. She'd probably honor this discount but not everyone may be as lucky.

Anyways, I have no cards in this game as I'm already happy with the PRS guitars I have. Until they release a SE version of the Myles Kennedy or NF53 I'm probably not biting on any new ones.

EDIT: Actually, a SE DW CE24 would be pretty cool too... but that's for another day.

I wonder if Sam Ash is as far out in receiving the SE's as Sweetwater. My Sweetwater guy said if I reserved a Swamp Ash now, I wouldn't get it till next year.
