I don't believe this bike has shimano disc brakes. The brakes on this bike are bad, but otherwise the bike for the price is an amazing value. I won't ride mine until my new brakes come in because they just don't have enough stopping power.
I'm torn between this and the Royce Union RGF. Amazon has it for $325 size 19" which I think it will fit me with better components.
Been looking at this bike since the last sale. I missed it when it was cheaper.

Do you want an upscale Kent or an upscale Huffy?
Unknown what exact drivetrain this has but Royce has Sora which probably means better.
This is Chromoly vs Aluminum so that would absolutely sway me to this unless it's junky Steel.
Of course as noted it's been under $300 and evidently under $250 before so I'd say wait and watch sometime between now and Xmas probably get under $300 and you could spend a little extra to update some parts when needed

Seems like a decent buy at the given price although I wouldn't pay their full asking price for it.
Based on the website, it seems to be full chromoly, not just main tubes. No mention of butting so I'm sure it's as heavy as chromoly comes but still a decent material. Surprised that even the handlebars are steel.
Would be a great commuter and you could always upgrade parts if/when they fail. Assuming cassette not freewheel given that it's 8 speed but that's not explicitly stated anywhere and 8 speed freewheels do exist. Double wall rims on the wheels and stainless spokes, so probably decent.

Given that the bike has integrated shifters (nice!) you can't upgrade to full hydraulic without ripping everything out (boo!), but I've upgraded the front to cable-actuated hydraulic and it works pretty well. The rear OEM brake squeals and seems weak and the front is relatively quiet and effective. I'll be upgrading the rear too when I get around to it. I went with Zoom HB-100's for $28 for the pair on AliExpress, but you can pay more and get them on Amazon.
