It is a VERY good activity tracking watch and is meant to compete with offerings from Garmin, etc. I'm a runner and I used to have to carry my phone in addition to an activity tracking watch. I carried my phone in case of emergencies (it can happen when you're doing very long runs) or to listen to music or audio books. I got the Ultra 1 about a year ago and it has been really great for tracking runs and I can leave my phone at home now. I've taken work calls on it, called for a ride/pickup during a lightening storm and listened to many hours of music, podcasts and audio books. Sure you can buy it for the specs or size and wear it as a casual watch but that's not really the job it is meant to do.
All that said, if you're buying it for real activity tracking and you live somewhere hot and humid this cloth watch band is going to get soaked in your sweat and will be gross. I changed out the watch band but if I had realized that before I bought it I would have chosen one of the plastic bands. That's also true if you're going to be wearing it in the water for swimming or surfing or whatever. You'll want a different watch band.
