Nice price, BUT, the X2800H has been $499 recently at Adorama. Plus, you dont get free returns with these third-party sellers at Amazon, so check that before ordering. For example, I just ordered a X2800H from a third party at Amazon and decided on a different AVR from Adorama and the return shipping was $27.

I see preouts for two subs and two (l/r) for zone2 in the back picture. May be able to output same as main fronts to zone 2 and then just use amp with the zone2 outputs? Not sure on this but this is what I was thinking of doing with the another model.

Any idea when that X2800H will go back on sale again? I tried messaging them to get the deal that was posted here, and they would not budge on price.

Former Denon fan, actually still a fan but only for their older gear. Buggy software, underpowered, poor customer service and difficult to configure. I have had 5 of them. Last one finally did it. AVR-S750H-R is garbage. Will overheat and go into protect mode even with dedicated fans cooling it.

FWIW my Denon's have been fine. I have a Denon 4500H and a 4311CI. Haven't had any issues.

Waiting for one like this to come back. I want at least 90 watts per channel

Not to change what your plans are but a doubling in received output power results in +3dB of volume change. So 10W higher than 80W makes a 1/8th dB of difference...

Lots of folks will complain about Denon because they bought into the "S" series receivers that they found on sale at Costco and then were mad because they wanted to be a home theater entusiast but found that the "S" series didnt have "enough". So they dump on Denon as a whole.

Ive only had Denon, from the X1100 to the X1200 to the X1600 and all have supported my needs very well and will support any living/family room set up extremely well. The X1700 is no different.

Three times in the last 4 months we've seen Adorama reduce that X2800H price. Id imagine one more time before BF or on BF itself.

I bought the Onkyo NR7100 from Adorama a few days ago for $649, a 9 channel receiver. But I have a $698 X2800H sitting here (bought it before seeing that $499 price)..

The S-Series receivers are their low end models. The X series are a considerable step up in terms of quality. That's not to say the X Series are perfect (my X3600 needed a repair...but service was quick and easy), but the sound is excellent. If you want to go deep into the weeds on this stuff, check out the Audio Science Forum. They do some very detailed electronic testing and analysis on components. Except for some issues in last year's model, Denon's X series typically compete well with electronics that sell for 2X - 5X as much.
