Looks like it could be useful to cut open many of those damn plastic clamshell packages that stuff comes in now.

I have two of these. It is VERY useful for that, cuts it well without flopping around.

I have similar and use it to chop up dog jerky strips into smaller "training treat" size pieces. Cuts like butter totally worth it.

Fyi you can get similar from Menards at this price daily

I bought few of these several years ago during clearing inventory at Lowes. The scissor worked well for cutting stuff up, plastic, trim small branch in the garden. It is heavy duty.

I bought one of these a number of years ago when it was posted on SD for around this same price - may have been $5 or $6, though. At any rate, as you suggest, these are excellent for opening Harbor Freight and Costco clamshell packaging. I have them hanging on one of those $3 HFT magnetic bars in my garage, and reach for them all the time to cut product packaging. Definitely worth the $7 price tag.

I bought them a week or two ago for the same price. They are sharp, heavy-duty, and cut very clean. Great scissors at this price.

This one? Is it strong magnet for small tools?

I own 3 of these - the magnets are plenty strong enough for small tools including wrenches and pliers

I could have sworn just last night the local one had one that said it would cut 1.2mm steel sheet at the same price. Just fyi I don't live next door to one and can't check easily or quickly.

edit: I guess it depends on whether it is cold rolled or stainless steel plate.

I got these back in 2019 during the great Lowes inventory clearance events. I just looked at my emails and got them for $1.90 each. They have been well used/abused in that time frame. Wish the blades were a little longer at times, but they cut just about everything I've put in front of them. Even at this price, I think it is a good pickup if you don't have them already.

Less leverage, different shape, but they are of similar heft and durable to aviation snips.

They demolish clamshell packaging with ease
