Yeah, you're right — I see now that it's YMMV. I'll change the title. I looked around at Lowe's in my area and one store had it for $6.98 about 45 mins away while most near me are now showing $12. So, just search prices at your nearest Lowe's and see if any are near you.

Using Lowes website, I clicked "check other store". I then added 1 to my cart from each store. Half were $6.98, half were $12.98. It's not regional, it appears random. If you closest store doesn't have it for $6.98, check others.

These were 6.98 online at my store, 12.98 when I got there, and the website showed them at 12.98 when I got home.
Thanks to @madcow3417 above, ordered two pair from a nearby store.
