I wouldn't recommend a used broom. Dirt/rocks in the broom can scratch up your car.

These are more thorough than a broom. They're like a big, soft squeegee that can move snow that's inches deep from a big windshield. If you park a vehicle outside, in a place that gets inches of snowfall at a time, it's a real timesaver.

I own two and just tossed them into my cars' trunks to prep for the season. I mention this to say that assuming they've been stored well (considering that this is likely an Amazon 3rd party seller) these can indeed last for years.
