As far as I can tell these are exactly the same as the Stanley set that goes on sale for $30 at Ace Hardware. I have the Stanley set and they're great as long as you're realistic about the specs. FYI: these claim 1000lb capacity but the Stanley are rated at 750lb...not sure why there is a difference, they appear identical aside from the color.

Currently using a pair of these from a year ago and they do quite well. They also are designed to latch together for storage and transportation with built in latches

oh god. It has nothing to do with the painting and everything to do with getting all the dirt off the walls. And also getting the texture of the wall corrected before painting. Meaning, fill any holes and get the texture of the covered hole the same as around so it disappears when you paint over it.

God forbid what is about to happen. Almost every do-it-yourself painter does not clean the walls and paints on top. You'll never have the same wall again.

Rule #1
clean the heck out of the walls. Best purchase may be a garden sprayer and a 50 pack of microcloths at costco, and a degergent that get off whatever is on the wall. Just use a TSP like product if not sure. TSP is made to preclean walls, can be found in paint section of home depot.

Rule #2
Get wall texture right, disappering holes, and breaking off 'warts' and making them disappear.

Rule #3
Easy part. Paint nice. feels so nice to paint on clean walls and so miserable to paint on dirty walls. cut in the hardest to reach areas first so you dont have to worry about other wet areas.

More awesome ramblings..
Use a pigment primer as first coat. Kilz II or Kilz III, or the best: zinser. Found at home depot. It will block out all the previous paint color. It will also seal in any other pigments and minor oil buildup. The new coat of paint will look so clean and nice.

Use a good brand paint. Behr at home depot is excellent. Other brands have better color pallets though if you want to get picky.

All of these things are easy. It's just make a list, one trip to home depot and do it in one shot.

You should AT LEAST clean the surfaces as much as you are willing, and put down a layer of pigment sealing paint every time you paint in my super opinion.

Spend. Shell out. You will feel so much better in life when you don't cheap your paint. You are basically choosing how classy you are. snicker

The silver paint holds an extra 250lb.

To add to the other reviews. I have these and they work well. But they are very low so you end up fairly hunched over.

Amazon looks out of stock. Still in stock at Lowes. Free shipping on 4.
edit: I just realized these are 29" tall. I was thinking they were 42" (3.5 feet) tall. Who uses these? Ants?

I bought 4 at Lowes and got free shipping. Two pair can come in handy, one just for a table. Or one table with a third in the middle for extra support. $15 is so cheap. great deal. It's a matter of how much you will use them vs storage.

Mine will get moderate use, more than most.
good thinking! Hoping to save megabucks by painting my own interior walls and doors next July. Wish me dumb luck.

Anyone know what metal is used? Is it prone to rusting? I need some saw horses to hold my canoes over winter

You could always prime and paint them with some well chosen weather paint when their brand new. The paint will stick well, and be even.

Maybe look in to aluminum ones, even better.

Just got done building my house and used the Stanley ones from previous deal, a pair for $20. Bought 5 pairs and used the crap out of them for the last 2 years, put up 6500 sqft of tongue and groove on all the ceiling and some of the walls. They held up a stack of boards while staining and then several hundreds of pounds of boards while installing. Great sawhorses and the nesting is nice. These are identical other than the plastic color and even though $10 more per pair still a great buy.

They're steel but unless you're dipping them in water you should be good. I left a couple outside for a week holding some boards and got wet from dew every morning and a rain storm and I haven't had a hint of rust. They are lower than most saw heights but I fixed that with some boards channeled to the top crossbar I could drop over the top to make them the right height.
