I received iPhone 13 today from walmart..
After inserting the SIM card and activating it, I chatted with Verizon.
The first agent refused the payoff and said it would be possible in 14 days.
The second agent sent me the URL right away and I paid $299.
Then I cancel line. I need 60days for unlock.

I tried to do it with an iPhone 14 in walmart.com when I saw this deal. It asked me to login to my Verizon (I'm with vzn), and asked for permission to pull credit. I declined. I think anything with a payment plan will need a credit check.

Though this is 36 months contract , but once you activate the line, you can pay off it via chat rep or in cash in verizon store . Once phone is paid , you can cancel the line with in 3 days to avoid activation / upgrade fees. Wait for 60 days to unlock the device.

THIS IS NOT MONTHLY CREDITS. AMOUNT FINANCED will be $299 or $99 , depends which phone you select.

And the phone was delivered today, maybe because I ordered 1min after the deal went live.

Thats quite a mouthful!

I plan to try the at&t trick before i cancel verizon service.

Assuming the phone unlocks via the at&t trick, i'll then cancel the verizon service. It seems like that is what others have reported works.
what if it does not unlock? will it be locked to ATT?

I saw the same. Finally got my deal to go through. The date is becoming extended due to increased ordering. I don't think that will change much Monday.

Even with the extra days service this is a good deal for a 13. I'm not going to sweat it. Walmart delivers pretty quick in my experience. You may get lucky and it arrives early.

Good point. I am still hesitant now that its 5pm on Friday. Ill likely miss out on the deal by waiting until Monday as it will likely be dead by then. But oh well, I have 3 phones in limbo with ST on the SE 3 deal that is pissing me off. I wish they would just cancel the orders already and refund my money.

Yeah, I think you email them to unlock. You claim you purchased phone with VZW installment agreement and it should not be locked to ATT

Also if worse comes to worse you can always use the phone as a trade in towards a better phone. Trade ins can be locked

I have done these in past years with AT&T, this time Verizon. Activation fees were always waived on AT&T since have "The Discount". Anyway, seems the best deal with Verizon centers around making sure you cancel within 3 days. Three questions for verterans of these deals with VZW:

1. Does a completed port waive the activation fee without "fighting" for it?

2. Does the port need to be to a non-verizon MVNO so it is a true port?

3. So my account shows activation on 11/9, is three days for this 11/9+11/10+11/11 or 11/9 plus 3 days equals 11/12? ( I ask as my delivery is 11/11 and if I have to do the after hours bot payoff then I still need to talk to a human to cancel if I go that route)

Where do you suggest porting to? Wonder if I can port to the Metro S23 FE deal or if that would mess with the 6 mo unlock

That sounds risky but may work. You can try the ATT unlock trick.

I am trying to order now but its showing 11/17 arrival date. Wondering if I should wait for Monday rather than order right before a weekend
Check my reply to veryseablue. Tello is a good option, you just have to learn how to use their website. Metro S23Fe is ok if phone is in stock.
As with the other poster canceling the line even before the phone arrives just seems too risky. The whole process has to cycle through their system. You might get lucky and everything goes your way but from previous experiences, it's best to let the whole buying process go through it's regular cycle so as not to trigger a glitch. The whole process sometimes runs through hiccups, so much more if you add more potential glitches.

I got both phones from Verizon and AT&T because I thought one of the methods was going to fail. To my surprise, both methods worked. I highly recommend the AT&T method over Verizon because it is a lot more hassle free. This is what I did

Verizon:
Ordered phone on 11/8, received phone on 11/9. Went to Verizon store with cash but got denied for paying off early. Tried Verizon chat service and both chatbot and live human were unable to help me. On 11/10, Called the 611 from my Verizon phone as many suggested here and the first agent let me pay it off with no questions asked. Called back 30 min later and cancelled service. Hopefully the phone will be unlocked in 60 days

AT&T:
Ordered phone on 11/8, received phone on 11/9. Did SIM swap as suggested by OP on 11/9. Submitted unlock request on 11/9 evening but that got denied. On 11/10, submitted another unlock request and phone was immediately unlocked and ready to be used with T-mobile. Cancelled service.
Did you use the trick mention above where you turn on the phone finish the activate process then remove it and put in another unlock phone ?
Or you use the inactivate ATT sim method?
I saw two different method but nobody out detail which method that use

Is there any bad about US mobile free trial? You can port to them with esim and get 50 days free service.

What was your method of pay-off. Was it as complicated as all the VZ method? Does this sim swap need the phone to be paid off first?

I got a phone in store at Walmart for AT&T, but the guy put in the AT&T chip inside and set the phone up. Did that mess up the swap procedure after or can I still do it?

Ahhhh... Now I'm seeing a lot more SD oldtimers...😊.

Tello is very convenient, $5 plan, you can use the esim option if you have an available imei number to activate the line, that way you don't need to buy or wait for a sim card.
Thanks a lot. Great to meet old friends like you. Will try this after I order the phone. I have several Ting sim unused bought from Target before, not sure if that can be used as well? Thanks again and take care.

My story:

1. 11/8 ordered the Verizon Phone

2. 11/9 delivered, put an old ATT SIM and turned on the phone. It shows being locked to ATT. Used the ATT trick to unlock the phone in 5 minutes.

3. Tried this 611 approach later 11/9 night, it didn't work initially. The bot always sent me a url via message which redirected me to Verizon App and it kept saying I cannot pay off.

4. Tried the above approach again this morning, it worked magically this time! Guess it answers differently within or out of working hours.

5. Called 611 again to cancel my line. All set.

Thanks for all the help. Saved me the trip to Verizon store.
@AnOtherDay: To confirm how you unlocked the device … please review?

- you received in the mail the phone
- you took the shrink wrap off and inserted an old (meaning used but no longer active) AT&T SIM
- you turned on the phone and went thru standard iPhone setup on the handset
- you went to the At&t unlock portal and submitted a request (any specific details needed here?)
- the phone was automatically unlocked in 5 minutes

Is this accurate?
