Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.
So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.
Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

You can buy phone alone but you need to activate it to get unlocked
True. One should not forget that part.

can try the ATT unlock trick.

its in the wiki on Walmart 13 mini

https://slickdeals.net/f/16697630-128gb-apple-iphone-13-mini-for-verizon-product-red-5-55-month-for-36-months-free-s-h-w-upgrade-new-line-activation

Q: How do I unlock with the "AT&T trick"?
A: There are a few steps:

Acquire an inactive AT&T SIM (DO NOT ACTIVATE SERVICE)
Put the inactive AT&T SIM in the iPhone and complete the setup process
Visit https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/ and click "submit an unlock request"
Under "Do you have a mobile number" select "No", enter the device IMEI, and complete the process
You should get one email right away, and another one shortly afterwards to say that the unlock was complete
Insert a SIM from a different carrier to verify the phone is now unlocked (the settings might still say "SIM Locked" until you complete this step)
That's only for flex devices, these are pre-locked to straight talk so it wouldn't work.

I ordered one through ST but the urlhasbeenblocked in me still went to WM. Just finished up at Walmart - they did need the cell rep to do the activation but the one at my store was on time at 10:00 and he just went through the steps. Never opened the box and I'm out the door.
What personal information are you required to provide to the in-store rep to buy and activate the phone?

If you have active tf line, you can activate the phone on the existing line without buying any new plan.
So could we buy one with the 35 plan, activate it, then transfer service to activate ones purchased without a plan, and they will all get unlocked in 60 days?

Dang it, I had it in my cart and was halfway through checking out when I got a work-call. That cost me ten valuable minutes and I lost out. Frown

I just tried to purchase on the straight talk website and once I click place my order, I get "There is insufficient inventory to purchase the requested product.".

Oh well

Ridiculous to have such a promotion and to be "out of stock" after minutes.

Are we able to activate on an existing using tracfone? Also this is a new line I just purchased on Samsung A53 deal and still the A53 is under 60 days for unlock, will that jeopardise that unlock?
