Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.
So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.
Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

T-Mobiles deals do. They give you $830 for it towards some of the fancier phones (including iPhone 15).
Didn't notice that. Looks like you need the Go5G plan for the $830 other plans are like $350 off which is still good for a phone you paid $85 for haha.

Are people just buying these for extra phones of for their kids? Someone mentioned trade in but idk what trade in deals include SE model on them…
I bought the phone with the bronze plan to replace an aging iPhone SE 2nd gen that has a failing battery. I was hopeful, along with most people who order on 11/6, that orders would be fulfilled by now...only to find out Straight Talk is not shipping those earlier orders and instead fulfilled many later orders on 11/7-11/8.

I'm just hoping those of us still waiting will get what we ordered.

Do you know if it has to be unlocked first before trade in?

After activating the new phone I sent the message unlock to 611611. I didn't get the date but got a link about policy. Did I miss any step?
Try sending unlock to 611611 again. I had to do it twice before it sent my unlock date

Place a phone call for at least 2 minutes, then try again

So just spent 3 hours trying to just get 1 phone and system wouldn't process the Straight Talk phones. Pretty pissed off as they told me nothing they could do. Just trying to purchase one freaking phone for personal use and the one I ordered on Monday is doing nothing. For the amount of time I have in this they owe me money.

For those that have bought in store, does Walmart carry the Red or White in store or just the Black?

Just purchased 2 from a local store. 94 out of the door each. They still have few more in stock. Like 4 or 5 more.

The irony of a company named "Straight Talk" lacking transparency during a big screw-up of their own making is something to behold. It would have been nice if ST had acknowledged their mistakes and clearly explained what they were going to do about the situation. Yet, instead, we get silence instead of straight talk.

I just got the same message now, unprompted. It may be a policy update text that was sent to everyone:
Quote :
"Service Msg: Hi there, a quick update from Straight Talk. We have an updated unlocking policy. You can check it here: https://www.tfwunlockpolicy.com/"
I texted unlock to 611611 right after, and got the same unlock date(2 months from now)

So the text was a little worrisome so I looked through it and it still has this portion regarding verizon and 60 days:

Quote :
"or customers with cellphones capable of remote unlocking (this includes most iPhones and some Android cellphones):

TracFone will remotely unlock the phone when it becomes eligible for unlocking, provided it meets the following conditions:

The cellphone must be in working condition.
The cellphone has not been reported stolen or lost, and there are no indicators of fraud.
…..
For all cellphones activated with new TracFone service on the Verizon network on or after November 23, 2021, the cellphone will be remotely unlocked automatically, sixty (60) days after activation."
But here's a little blurb on the bottom that' caught my eye:
Quote :
"If you have not met the required minimum period of active TracFone Service, TracFone may unlock your cellphone, but you will incur a charge of up to $300, depending on how long your service was active prior to the unlocking request.

TracFone may refuse any unlocking request that would result in an abuse of its Unlocking Policy or is part of an effort to defraud TracFone or its customers. TracFone's Unlocking Policy is subject to change at any time without advance notice. "

Edit- just logged in. I didn't even sign up for auto pay and they saved my CC info in my account. Damn, there's an issue with my account so i cant even delete my CC info, let alone change account details 🥲
