Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.
So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.
Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

Just file a complaint on the better biz bureau website. They will get it taken care of for you. Got a refund quickly after they stepped in.

Also this brings more attention to the problem with straight talk doing this crap vs people doing chargebacks.

This will make them have to answer and bring down their BBB rating if we all complain about this "deal" and horrible customer service from ST.
Sounds fun. Might go there if no action in the next week.11/6 order for 2 with no news so far.

Tried calling just to see what they'd say.
They asked 3x "have you checked your bank?" One of the times was if I'd seen a refund. So I answered yes I'd checked it, no refund. Of course, these reps are basically powerless to do much in this case. She said a few times one of their tools was down, of course

Will give it a little more time and see if there's any refund. Doubt it ships.

When checking coverage on Apple site, it states "Purchase Date Not Validated"

Have you powered up the phone and gone through the setup yet? That seems to be when Apple finalizes the warranty coverage info. If so, maybe give it a little time in case updates are slow right now.

I went to one Walmart and they said the deal was over last night (the dude was rude. So I didn't egg it on.) I went over to another Walmart and the lady said the same thing. I showed her the Walmart app. She looked for her promo sheet and activated two phones.

Yeah, someone else just said their Walmart rep told them the deal was over Sunday, but they had one rung up anyway and still got the discount. They're all over the place with this one.

The deal is still ongoing, just bought today, had to be in a Walmart Supercenter, not other Walmart stores

When it's properly activated at Walmart, there is no need for any plan PIN. They select your plan in the WARP system (not the physical cards) and the phone is activated and simply needs to be turned on with the SIM loaded. It may be a good idea to test it before leaving the store if that's a concern though, as they don't all seem to know what they're doing.
For my case, after I insert sim card, power it on, finish some setups, it shows "no service", so I guess that clueless Walmart rep didn't do it right.

The most ridiculus thing their chat support did was: AFTER I pasted my order number, he asked me to input it again with a space between each 3 numbers.......

Ugh… That sucks. However, I have seen some cases where it takes a while for the phone to actually show as active. You may want to try logging into your account with the email you gave them and using the forgot password prompt to see if any plan shows up there. And try a power cycle of the phone also

Yes. If I check coverage through the phone, it shows purchase date of Nov 1, about two weeks early. If I try through website , it shows Purchase Date Not Validated. I tried contacting support. Rep says she needs a receipt with IMEI or serial number on which Straight Talk does not provide.

Mine looked up my order status which shows my address then said we needed to fix my address even though it was correct. Apparently I will receive a call back to say if they can now ship to this new and improved address in 24 hours.

If you put the IMEI into the Straight Talk phone activation system it should say the phone is already activated and offer to sell you a service plan. Pro phone flippers, trust that it will unlock and verify it is before shipping it out unopened. I will sell the phone as open box, text for unlock code, verify the sim is not restricted and update the phone to iOS 17 before selling

Im not a pro flipper and my intention was not to flip but damn this phone is small and I have an IPhone 13 on order. Also seems like more deals on the pipeline for BF. I didnt realize you could leave the phone sealed, so like you I guess I sell open box. What do you think selling price is when unlocked? I don't see much profit by checking FB Marketplace

To ScottoDonno …

Interesting… What does Apple's "check coverage" site say?
