Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.

So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.

Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

For those who can't get the deal. The add says it's 49$ with in-store activation. You can argue that you can activate in-store with the straight talk activation kit.
They shouldn't be able to bait people to come in the store for a deal that doesn't exist.

How do you know when the WARP guy is at work to activate it ?

I would not think they have a Guy there all the hours that Walmart is open !

Or if I call Walmart who would I ask for ?

Thanks
You could call the store & hope someone in electronics picks up, or you can go into the store during times the rep is scheduled to start only to find out that they're not there...Yes, I'm frustrated!

No, it just usually requires a second or third text. In some threads people have posted that lowercase worked for them, but not uppercase. Any correlation just seems to be coincidence, based on reports from previous threads.

Keeping mine, haven't had an apple phone since iPhone 8. Been using Samsung since. Much smaller screen is an adjustment but the SE is a solid, entry level phone and should continue to get updates for another several years. Mainly wanted a cheap iPhone so I can buy an Apple Watch for fitness purposes. And spending thousand dollars plus on a higher end iPhone probably was unlikely for me

I did some Walmart hunting yesterday. Stores that have phones in stock don't have WARP. Stores that have WARP don't have phones in stock. Game over. One the reps told me people were buying like 10-20 phones

So I filed an FCC and FTC complaint yesterday. FCC notified this morning that the complaint had been sent to Straight Talk. A Straight Talk rep called me a couple hours later and sent me an email. I haven't had time to get back in touch with them. The email address seems to be exclusive to dealing with fcc complaints. Maybe if enough people complain it will expedite this whole thing one way or another.

You could try the store locator on the Straight Talk website. I don't know if they only list the stores with WARP, but maybe.

Of course, like with anything VZ-MVNO, the website info probably sucks. For example, a nearby store moved to a new location more than a year ago, but ST is still listing their old address.
