Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.

So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.

Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

The PIN is required to activate the phone if it was properly done in the store.
If phone was properly activated in store a pin is NOT required to use phone. Phone automatically gets a number when sim is in phone & rebooted.

That struck me as odd at first as well, but I'm thinking that was probably a typo and he meant "wasn't". Smilie

Agree - But with so much conflicting info here I thought I better correct it just in case someone is actually reading the thread (doesn't seem like many do).

Again, you're applying one limited web site to everyone and it doesn't work that way.
You are confused. I can show you many other sites explaining chargeback vs refund. A chargeback is completely different than a refund. When I applied a chargeback for my other fraud charge, they need to investigate before they just give the money back. I didn't instantly get my money back that very day. It was fast but that was obvious fraud. Look up the posts where people are getting refunds applied where they didn't even cancel or request refund. People crying and panicking about a $49+$45 deal overreacted when they wanted to chargeback so soon. Now refunds are being applied to others automatically. Those people who got the refunds won't be banned either. Believe it or not some people got the Walmart deal as well so chargeback on the website deal with possible future banning may be very bad for them. Why would banks investigate chargeback? To hear from both sides and that takes time. "But but but I don't care about being banned. I would never order from them again for canceling my phone deal."…. You are forgetting all the other good deals from straight talk and good experiences from tracfone/straight talk customers. You are forgetting the people who are happily getting their phone at Walmart now. Next year? The banned people may be sitting out on the next big straight talk iPhone deal at Walmart. Maybe it is an iPhone 12 or 13 next year.

Yeah, I was replying about an online activation question earlier and then figured I'd better clarify further, as someone just jumping into the thread was bound to misunderstand and get confused about their Walmart purchase. Don't think I've been in a thread quite this huge in a long time.

Just checked my credit card.

My Visa card just got the refund (pending) today from my straight talk order (phone and plan) on 11/8 order.

It was automatic. I didn't demand the refund. The rep told me a few days ago that it was cancelled and it would take 3-5 business days. I guess they cancelled and issued the refund a couple days after my order.

No chargeback needed for me. I didn't panic and freak out so soon and my account won't be banned.

My local Walmart is still showing availability. The same Walmart that I ordered my other iPhone SE 2022 so I may pick up a 2nd iPhone SE 2022 tomorrow.

Waiting for an automatic refund rather than a panic chargeback with possible banning? Patience is a virtue.

Seems like all of the Tracfone/Straight Talk/Total deals get way too long, they repeat same thing over & over.

Straight talk sent me a text that they upgraded my 10gb plan to unlimited. This was from my Walmart deal. Not sure if they did that because they canceled my online order and wanted to give me a free upgrade in good faith. I used the same email too.

Being banned because somebody panicked so soon with chargeback rather than simply waiting a couple days is a mistake on their part.

Patience is a virtue.

Don't want to burn a bridge from straight talk/tracfone service and future good deals.

Nice to see Tracfone has such dedicated customer service agents replying to every comment
I didn't care for one particular tracfone online agent much but I thought the tracfone phone agent from the correct department was more knowledgeable and helpful. He was 100% about my refund arriving.

Great Walmart deal. I have been quite impressed with the phone. Maybe I will get another one tomorrow. It is still in stock.

For me, the $20-$100 chargeback fees incurred on ST makes me feel a lot better. Again, consumers need to teach crappy companies a lesson.
Quote from FaithfulClover9623 :
You have no idea what you are talking about. When I charged back on Paypal, I got the money back INSTANTLY, plus there will be at least $20 chargeback fees that ST will have to pay.

If ST caused us so much trouble, they will have to pay.
Paypal doesn't do chargebacks. They offer Purchase Protection, which is different, even though ultimately you get your money back if you can prove the goods/service purchased wasn't delivered. I don't think Paypal penalizes the seller for each individual event. IIRC there is no fee, but too many incidents could lead to the seller being banned, so ST didn't pay anything and you didn't hurt them at all.
