Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.

So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.

Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

Are they still 49 in store?
Seems to depend on the store. Advertised deal shows it should but some stores are saying deal is expired & refusing to sell at the $49 price.
Several of us got the $84 price yesterday.

I had a friend where the store wouldn't do the in store activation and said the deal was expired, yet they still had the signage up with the date reflecting good until 11/26.

So you still got the $49 deal for the 2 you ordered on 11/8?

Should have made them honor it. If they had tried it would have worked since other stores are still doing the deal.

I finally managed to find a store with the iPhone SEs in stock AND they were able to activate phone plans in-store, but the cell phone department representative went on a weird power trip and insisted that each customer was only allowed to purchase one. I showed him the advertisement that said the limit was 2 per customer, but he said he saw it already and didn't care - he was only selling 1 per customer. He said something along the lines of "in the interest of fairness" and too many people had come asking for the $49 deal. He also said it was some conspiracy and people were in secret group chats telling each other about the deal. I pointed out to him that the deal was literally on the front page of Walmart.com and was the first few search results that popped up in Google. He was still adamant about only selling 1 phone per person.

Why would it matter to him personally who buys the phones? He is still selling two phones whether it's one person buying 2 or two people buying 1 each. It was an extremely bizarre situation. Maybe I should've asked for a manager and escalated the issue.

Yeah, it's like he's never heard of the internet and he was a young guy in his mid to late twenties. I didn't want to burn that bridge though because that Walmart was the only one in a 100-mile radius that did in-store phone activations and he was the only cell phone representative in the store.

Was able to get one from Walmart for the $84 price (phone + plan). I went to a Walmart in Secaucus 4 times. The first time the rep told me to come back in the morning, in hindsight I think it was just because he was busy and didn't want to serve me. The second and third times the cell phone people (contracted out to OSC) didn't show up to work. The store manager was upset about this but he said he couldn't do anything since they needed to activate the phone for the promo. The 4th time I went the employee said they didn't have any and to come back in the morning. The manager the day before already said they had a lot, so I told the rep I had been there 3 times and keep getting told to come tomorrow. He then magically found 1 iPhone SE and sold it to me. OSC is a joke. Walmart should work with someone else.

No need to unlock for trades. In September, I stopped at Walmart to buy one of these for $149 while on my way to T Mobile to trade in. The T Mobile rep was the one who unboxed it.
