Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.

So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.

Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

I'm not an expert but for a big plan change plus adding new lines with device trade ins, you might want to contact T Force on twitter or FB instead of Care. Also remember that after taxes the $100 Essentials plan is more like $130.

How do I login to their website to check that? It asks for a password. The paper that I got from the walmart rep shows the e-mail addresses I used and a pin number.
Enter the email you gave them and then click "forgot password". It will then email you a link to set it

Is this still a good deal at $99 for the iPhone SE? Walmart is starting to get rid of this deal like Straight Talk. I'm seeing signs being put up in Walmart stores that the phone will be $99 with activation instead of $49. If the price will be the same in-stores at Walmart as the Straight Talk website, it might be better to just buy from Straight Talk instead so you don't have to deal with clueless Walmart associates and shady OSC contractors.

Is there not a button to click to indicate that you have forgotten your password, and then you enter your email address? If not, then you may need to go back to Walmart. It sounds from other postings that Walmart may rush through the activation without regard to actually setting up a customer account. Straight Talk CSRs are then never going to be able to help you because an account does not exist.

If you just got these phones for unlocking and then using on another network after 60 days, then none of this matters, so long as the phones have been successfully activated.

Ordered on the day it went live from StraightTalks own website... One with $45 plan and another order without the plan, 2 different addresses. Both still show order is active "pending remote fulfilment" BUT for both I got refund notifications on both cards. Thats sort of scammy. Legitimately ordering the phone no contact or shipping or anything from Straight Talk. I've never even been a straight talk customer. Glad I went to walmart the same day and at least got one of them with the $35 plan.

I did just that to setup an st account. After login, there is no line in there. When I click add a line, it pops up an error box, we can not complete your request. I am sure the email was correct, because walmart rep printed out a paper with the email address on it.

It sounds like they didn't activate it right. When you log in, you should see a line and phone number associated with it under the "Manage Lines" section. Did they give you a second printout sheet of your plan activation PiN? It's a long string of something like 15 characters.

Also, have you tried popping the SIM in and see if it works?

Does anyone know if the phone needs to be in the US for it to unlock after 60 days? What if the phone is outside the US (Canada), will it still unlock?

These OSC people are shady. The one at the Walmart I went to initially also said the SEs were sold out but a regular Walmart associate told me earlier there were plenty in stock so I told the OSC guy that and he magically found one in the drawer. He also refused to sell more than one. It's like these OSC guys are incentivized to sell as few of these SEs as possible.
The reps get paid nothing on prepaid. They rather not be busy activating prepaid. They get paid for postpaid. I get their point, nobody likes working for free. But not the way to go about it.
