Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.

So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.

Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

Paypal is slow / pita to deal with
Nope. I said I never received it and never received a tracking number with my order number in the comments. Instantly refunded and a few minutes later received an email about the refund and that the case is closed HOWEVER, I used PayPal and not a linked CC

Exact thing happened to me. One activated once I put the sim in with no problems. The other one I had to go back to the store. They'll have an activation pin they can give you from the transaction. He showed me the screen and printout with the pin. It was in this format: 10 digits|15 digits. The pin is the 15 digits.

Yeah unfortunately I waited too long to open the phones and now the wireless person is already gone for the day. I'll have to wait until next week before I can go back in person, but I'll see if I can call at lunch tomorrow to get the plan PIN.

Yes but it's $100 + $49 plan.

$149 + tax for a brand new current generation iPhone isn't bad.

Maybe, but it's a little bit generous to call it current gen.

Can you port a number to Metro if the line doesn't have active service? In other words, can I port the number from this iPhone deal in 31 days after the ST plan expires? Alternatively, can you port the number right now without jeopardizing the unlock process?

so I ported my number out to Boost one day before the 60th (I paid for two months because I wanted the service). Checked my phone 30 minutes into the first day that it qualified for unlock and it was unlocked.

Seems like others here are unaware of their rights or too scared to use them

It says that it has the phone in stock near me for $149 without the plan I'm assuming. Any idea if this deal is going to come back for BF?
